Children’s Hospice South West is calling on businesses to go head-to-head and take on its £50 Challenge this spring.

The charity is giving workplace teams an initial £50 and tasking them to see how much money they can raise in just 50 working days, from March 2 to May 13.

Around 60 teams took part in last autumn’s £50 Challenge, raising more than £20,000 for the charity, which supports more than 500 children with life-limiting conditions and their families across the South West.

Saturday 21 March is the date set for Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) annual Moonlight Memory Walk.

This special event is returning to the town for the 11 th year and will once again see men and women walk the 5 mile circular route around the town of Falmouth. Walkers will be taking part in memory of their loved ones while also raising sponsorship to support the vital care CHSW offers to local children and their families at its Little Harbour hospice in St Austell.

Last year the event saw 300 people take part and it raised over £20,000 for CHSW.

The games room at North Devon’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice has been given a major re-vamp thanks to a £36,362 donation by the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons.

The new-look space offers an enhanced fun haven for children and parents, with a pool table, table football and large screen television, as well as the latest games consoles and computers and a host of magical assistive technology designed for children with life-limiting conditions.

Pupils at Trinity Church of England School in Acton Turville spent Christmas fundraising for their local children’s hospice, Charlton Farm in North Somerset.

After completing the London Marathon last year and raising over £46,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) Fred Thomas, AKA Skinners Brewery mascot Betty Stogs, is now in full training for Ride for Precious Lives.

Ride for Precious Lives is an annual, sponsored cycling event put on by CHSW which is now in its 12 th year and usually sees around 75 cyclists take on the challenge. The cycle covers three counties in three days stopping off at three children’s hospices over the 205 miles. Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Little Harbour in St Austell has recently taken delivery of a van load of toys and gifts that were collected at Lusty Glaze throughout January.

Lusty Glaze beach and restaurant at Newquay organised a toy amnesty throughout January where people could drop off unwanted toys and gifts throughout the month in exchange for a free tea or coffee. Toys and gifts collected were then delivered to Little Harbour children’s hospice, brand new items will stay at the hospice with pre-loved items going to CHSW charity shops to help raise vital funds.

Staff and customers at Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm in Somerset have raised £3,902 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The family-run farm, based at Middle Hill Farm in Langford Budville near Wellington, offered visitors hot chocolates, teas, coffees and mince pies in return for a donation to the charity during November and December.

High-flying trampoline parks in Devon and Cornwall have raised more than £1,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

iBounce in Exeter and Bodmin sold special wristbands to customers throughout 2019, raising £1,134 for the charity, which provides respite breaks for more than 500 children with life-limiting conditions.

Money raised will enable families to make precious memories together at the charity’s three South West hospices in Barnstaple, St Austell and Bristol.

The shop will be open 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday and will stock a wide variety of good quality pre-loved items including, clothes, accessories, collectables, toys and games and books and media.
