The lucky winner of Children’s Hospice South West’s Christmas Raffle has handed £500 back to the charity.

Long-time supporter Yvonne Scott, 88, from Northam in North Devon, scooped the top prize of £2,500 in the charity’s December draw.

But said she wanted to use some of her winnings to help pay for trips out for children and families staying at the Little Bridge House hospice in nearby Fremington.

People living in an extra care development in Totnes have raised £1,500 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Residents at Quayside in Steamer Quay Road have been busy raising the money for the charity throughout 2019.

Joan and Barry Mayne and neighbours organised fortnightly quizzes, held a fashion show and sold Christmas cards in aid of CHSW, which supports hundreds of South West children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Haynes Publishing is seeing in the New Year on a charitable note, with the presentation of a four-figure sum to local children’s charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

When Sparkford-based Haynes published the third edition of its best-selling Baby Manual in 2018, it pledged 50p from each copy sold to be split equally between the charities CLIC Sargent and Children’s Hospice South West.

To mark 12 months since the publication of the latest edition of the Baby Manual, a donation of £3026.25 was made to CHSW.

Jenny Milton, a mum of two from Bishopsworth in Bristol is no stranger to running having completed various half marathons over the years. Staff at local insurer The Exeter have raised an incredible £21,716.64 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The health and life cover specialists, based at the Exeter Business Park in Emperor way, chose CHSW as their charity partner in 2019 and staff stepped up to support the cause in a number of ways.

Harry Davies was born on 12 January 2004. Aged three and a half he was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer in his lower arm. Sadly Harry died at Charlton Farm on 16 July 2011 and was laid in a special room at the hospice called Starborn. The family stayed at Charlton Farm and were given help organising the funeral.

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons Devonshire has made a £10,000 donation to Children’s Hospice South West.

The money to fund a new medical emergency equipment store at the charity’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice near Barnstaple in North Devon was raised through the Devon Mark Charity Association’s 2022 Project, a celebration of the centenary of the association.

The new store will enable care staff to store specialist equipment for children with a range of complex care needs, meaning families will not need to bring all their equipment when they come to stay.

Pantomime audiences in Barnstaple have raised nearly £10,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Bucket collections were held after each performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Queen’s Theatre, from December 13 to January 5.

Cast members, who also visited the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice in Fremington to entertain children in the run-up to Christmas, encouraged panto-goers to make a donation after each show throughout the festive period.

The winning tickets in this year’s Children’s Hospice South West Christmas Raffle have been drawn at Little Bridge House today (December 20).

The lucky tickets were drawn by 18-year-old Grace Hannaford from Topsham, who is staying at the hospice this week with grandparents Loretta and Colin.

The top prize of £2,500 went to a lucky supporter from Northam, near Bideford. The £500 second prize was won by one of our supporters in Plymouth, and the third prize of £100 went to a player in Helston, Cornwall. The winners have all been notified.
