Santas sprint at Eden for sponsorship

Family getting ready for Santas on the Run

More Santas than ever were seen at Eden on Sunday for Children's Hospice South West's (CHSW) Santas on the Run sponsored fun run.

Over 650 Santas of all ages took part in the 2km fun run around Eden which the charity hopes will raise around £20,000 to support children and families that visit Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean for short breaks, respite and end of life care.

A sea of Santas could be seen weaving their way around the paths at Eden and even through the Mediterranean biome. Some Santas even decorated pushchairs and wheelchairs to really embrace the festive spirit. The headline sponsor of the event was Ocean Group based at Holmbush with Whirlwind Sports and Big Box Advertising also sponsoring the elfie selfie station and the snow station on the route.

Kiley Pearce, Events Fundraiser for CHSW at Little Harbour said "We are absolutely delighted that this year’s Santas on the Run was our biggest yet at Eden with over 650 Santas taking part and enjoying some special extras we have added to this year’s event.

Most importantly this means that hopefully the event will raise even more money than ever to support the children and families that visit Little Harbour for much needed breaks. The hospice is a lifeline for these local families so thank you to everyone who has raised sponsorship to help Little Harbour this Christmas.

Entertainment on the day was provided courtesy of Neil Caddy from Pirate FM who compered the event, High Tide whoNeil Caddy from Pirate FM hosting Santas on the Run performed songs to get everyone in the festive spirit as well as Truro School of Samba, Mevagissey Shanty Singers, Summertime Entertainment and the Little Harbour choir who performed their single which is now available to purchase – Harbour Walls.

Thanks are extended to everyone who volunteered their time at the event and to Cornwall Training and Consultancy for providing first aid cover to keep everyone safe.
