Devon Masons fund new medical equipment store at children’s hospice

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons Devonshire has made a £10,000 donation to Children’s Hospice South West.

The money to fund a new medical emergency equipment store at the charity’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice near Barnstaple in North Devon was raised through the Devon Mark Charity Association’s 2022 Project, a celebration of the centenary of the association.

The new store will enable care staff to store specialist equipment for children with a range of complex care needs, meaning families will not need to bring all their equipment when they come to stay.

Friends and supporters of Children’s Hospice South West gathered together in December to celebrate a year of great fundraising for Charlton Farm children’s hospice. Music was a core theme of the evening with Somerset-based musician and Reef drummer, Dom Greensmith and his band delighting guests at the Clifton Observatory with an exclusive performance.

Panto-goers’ big gift to children’s hospice

Pantomime audiences in Barnstaple have raised nearly £10,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Bucket collections were held after each performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Queen’s Theatre, from December 13 to January 5.

Cast members, who also visited the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice in Fremington to entertain children in the run-up to Christmas, encouraged panto-goers to make a donation after each show throughout the festive period.

Grace draws Christmas Raffle winning tickets

The winning tickets in this year’s Children’s Hospice South West Christmas Raffle have been drawn at Little Bridge House today (December 20).

The lucky tickets were drawn by 18-year-old Grace Hannaford from Topsham, who is staying at the hospice this week with grandparents Loretta and Colin.

The top prize of £2,500 went to a lucky supporter from Northam, near Bideford. The £500 second prize was won by one of our supporters in Plymouth, and the third prize of £100 went to a player in Helston, Cornwall. The winners have all been notified.

Motorbiking Santas raise smiles at Little Bridge House

A convoy of around 40 motorbiking Santas brought Christmas cheer to children and families being supported by Children’s Hospice South West in North Devon on Saturday morning.

Riders donned their best festive threads and decorated their bikes with plenty of tinsel and baubles to make the 50-mile road trip from Taunton to the Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Fremington.

All types of bike, trike and quad took part in the sixth annual Santas on a Bike Devon ride-out.

Land Rover Restoration Results in Charity Donation

The Tamar Restoration and Engineering Club based between Saltash and Callington have recently handed over a donation of £500 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) following the completion of the restoration of a Land Rover.

The club fully restored an old Land Rover which, once back to its former glory, was exported to Ireland. Instead of taking payment for projects such as this the club collect money for local charities which this time round included CHSW.

Internationally renowned chef, restaurateur and television personality, Marco Pierre White, recently visited CHSW's Charlton Farm hospice to look around the facilities and chat with staff and families.

Fairfield School links up with Charlton Farm

Pupils from Fairfield School in Backwell have been supporting their local children’s hospice in a variety of ways throughout 2019.

The Independent Day School is located just a few miles from Charlton Farm children’s hospice, which cares for children with life-limiting conditions who are not expected to reach adulthood.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is calling on companies to help sponsor one of its children’s nurses this Christmas.

The charity, which runs children’s hospices in St Austell, Barnstaple and Bristol is asking firms to pledge £1,000 towards its ‘ Sponsor a Nurse’ appeal and help make Christmas that little bit more special for local families this year.

Coast 2 Coast brothers donate to CHSW

Steve and Mark Smith from Coast 2 Coast Security based in St Austell have recently handed over a donation of £3,324 to Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Little Harbour following their fundraising from the Banger Rally Challenge in 2018 and 2019.

The brothers drove their limo to Gibraltar in 2018 on the challenge and then to Pompeii in Italy in 2019 and all in fancy dress.
