James Miller & Associates on board with Sponsor a Nurse

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is calling on companies to help sponsor one of its children’s nurses this Christmas.

The charity, which runs children’s hospices in St Austell, Barnstaple and Bristol is asking firms to pledge £1,000 towards its ‘Sponsor a Nurse’ appeal and help make Christmas that little bit more special for local families this year.

One of the hospice nurses said: “By sponsoring one of our nurses, you’ll be helping us to provide special care to families whose children are not expected to live into adulthood. We’re there for families whenever they need us, 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year.”

Whether families are using CHSW for respite breaks, emergency and palliative care, or end-of-life care and bereavement support, nurses play a key role.

This year, CHSW nurses helped nearly 500 children across the region with life-limiting conditions. It costs around £30,000 each year to fund a qualified children’s nurse at a CHSW hospice and the charity is almost entirely reliant on voluntary income.

Celebrating their 10th year of business and donating towards the sponsor a nurse appeal is James Miller & Associates mortgage and insurance brokers based in Truro.

Director James Miller said; “We have just entered our 10th year of business and felt it was important to celebrate this by supporting something special – Children’s Hospice South West is this and much more! To begin with, we have sponsored a nurse - the expert care, across a wide scope of needs that these invaluable people give, is remarkable. In addition, we will be holding a number of fundraising events to further support the hospice in the next 12 months and I would urge anyone to get involved.

After visiting the hospice, I couldn’t think of a better organisation to support.
