Family Fun Day in Nailsea raises over £800

The Royal Oak, located on the High Street in Nailsea, has raised £861 at its Family Fun Day for local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Held in August, the Family Fun Day was a huge success and saw locals enjoying a barbeque, bouncy castle, reptile show, music, outside bar, tombola, face painting, stalls and a sweet shop.

Landlady Gemma Mamo and the Royal Oak team visited CHSW’s Charlton Farm in Wraxall on one of its monthly Open Days to present the funds.

Weston super Mare Friends’ Group, who raise awareness and funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), organised a concert with music performed by The Lions Brass 4 Youth and The Weston Ukulele Players on Friday 4 October at the Victoria Methodist Church. The brass band is made up of young children - some as young as 12 – and one of the highlights of the evening were the young players who played solo pieces. Weston Ukulele Players has chosen CHSW as their charity of the year.

Craft Fair in Midsomer Norton in support of CHSW

On Saturday 9 November local volunteers will be holding a Craft Fayre to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

This event is being organised by the local Midsomer Norton CHSW Friends’ Group and will be held at Camerton Hall from 10am until 1pm. There will be lots of handmade crafts and gifts on offer on the day and all proceeds will be donated to CHSW.

This event follows a very successful fashion show which was organised in conjunction with M&Co in September raising over £1,000 for the charity.

Support Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) this year by taking part in Bristol’s biggest festive fun run, Santas on the Run.

The 2k course, which begins at Lloyds Amphitheatre and winds its way round Bristol Harbourside, is suitable for all ages and abilities and takes place on Sunday 8 December.

It’s a sponsored event with every Santa encouraged to raise as much money as possible to help CHSW care for local children and families at its hospice just outside of the city, Charlton Farm.

Ukulele band’s sounds are music to the ears of children's hospice

Ukulele players brought the sounds of Hawaii to Paignton seafront and raised money for their local children’s hospice.

The Riviera Ukulele Band formed part of a three-day line-up of live music at The Hyde Dendy Big Weekend last month.

The event, organised by the seafront pub-restaurant and led by local musician Phil Bowden, featured a number of live musical acts, with the ukulele band taking the stage on the Sunday afternoon.

Young dancers show star quality to raise money for children’s hospice

Young dancers from Exeter, Honiton and Crediton took inspiration from the Silver Screen to put on a blockbuster performance in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Students from the June Bealey School of Dance in Exeter spent many weeks rehearsing for their Movie Night show at Woodbury Village Hall on September 21.

The two performances, which featured a Titanic-themed ballet dance among many other music numbers, raised £1,540 for the charity, which offers vital hospice care to more than 500 children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

On September 29, a team of swimmers who work at Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) in various capacities, braved the elements and swam a distance of 2km or 4km around the beautiful Lake Wimbleball in Exmoor as part of the annual Exmoor Open Water Swim.

The 14-strong team connected to CHSW’s Charlton Farm had varied degrees of open water swimming experience. Little Lupo Raises £1400 for Little Harbour

Clare and James Eddy from Bodmin took part in a rally this summer taking their VW Lupo all the way to Monte Carlo and have raised £1400 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) while doing so.

The husband and wife duo started the three day rally in Saint-Quentin in France and then travelled to Dijon, crossing over the Great Saint Bernard pass in Switzerland, down to Turin in Italy and finally arrived in Monte Carlo for the finish line. From door to door they clocked up a total of 2300 miles and also battled with temperatures of over 40 degrees on some days without the comfort of air

Bodmin Jailbirds Raise over £12,000

Over £12,000 has been raised for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) following its Jail and Bail fundraising event which was held at Bodmin Jail on Friday 18 th October and donations are still rolling in.

6 local people took part in the event which involved individuals getting arrested and put on trial for fictitious crimes including possessing a loud shirt in a rural area and impersonating a fitness freak while eating cake. Once found guilty each prisoner was tasked with raising £999 to be set free.

Paul's incredible coast path walk in memory of his niece

An outdoor activity instructor from Honiton has walked the entire length of the South West Coast Path in memory of his niece, Lauren.

Paul Boddington, aged 49, completed the rugged 1,014km coastline hike from Minehead to Poole in just 27 days to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

His journey took him past two CHSW hospices – Little Bridge House in North Devon and Little Harbour in Cornwall – and he has raised more than £7,500 for the charity.

Lauren was diagnosed with ‘delayed development’ around the age of one. She suffered from fits and respiratory issues, and Paul said
