Christmas tree farm raises £3,902 for children’s hospice

Staff and customers at Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm in Somerset have raised £3,902 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The family-run farm, based at Middle Hill Farm in Langford Budville near Wellington, offered visitors hot chocolates, teas, coffees and mince pies in return for a donation to the charity during November and December.

Trampoline parks fly high for children’s hospice

High-flying trampoline parks in Devon and Cornwall have raised more than £1,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

iBounce in Exeter and Bodmin sold special wristbands to customers throughout 2019, raising £1,134 for the charity, which provides respite breaks for more than 500 children with life-limiting conditions.

Money raised will enable families to make precious memories together at the charity’s three South West hospices in Barnstaple, St Austell and Bristol.

At the end of 2018, two members of Clevedon-based Triangle Networks visited their local children’s hospice – Charlton Farm in Wraxall - having decided they were going to run a half marathon and raise funds to support the cause. They came away from their visit inspired to do more and pledged to take on, not just one, but 12 half marathons!

Members of the renowned Keynsham Chicks knitting group visited Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) on its January Open Day and presented the charity with a cheque for £1,426.

The group are dedicated to raising vital funds for CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice which supports families from the local area whose children have been diagnosed with life-limiting conditions. These funds bring the total raised by the group to over £11,000 in 3 years.

Couples are being invited to show some love for Children’s Hospice South West this Valentine’s Day.

Queen Anne’s Café on the Strand in Barnstaple is holding a Valentine’s Dinner and Dance in aid of the charity on Friday, February 14.

Diners can enjoy canapes and prosecco on arrival, followed by a two-course dinner and live music by 1940’s-inspired harmony trio The Marionettes. There will also be a raffle and auction in aid of CHSW, which offers respite to nearly 200 families at its Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Fremington.

Village's marrow auction raises hundreds for hospice

Villagers in Upton in Somerset have helped raise nearly £2,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Most of the money was raised at October’s annual Marrow Sunday Charity Auction at the Lowtrow Cross Inn. The annual auction, which been running for more than 25 years, took a year off last year but made a welcome return in 2019.

Of the £1,925 total, £500 was raised by local resident Kevin Hancock’s sponsored head shave.

Walk Harbour to Harbour for Little Harbour

A fundraising group based in Truro are organising a sponsored walk called Harbour to Harbour to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Little Harbour in St Austell.

The walk is happening on Sunday 19 th April with three different routes and distances making it something that everyone can get involved in. Routes include 12 miles from Devoran to Portreath, 9 miles from Bissoe to Portreath or 5 miles from Scorrier to Portreath.
