Cornish Crystal Rose Launched to Remember Loved Ones

A Cornish company has designed and is producing unique crystal roses which will be able to contain ashes of your loved one in the stem. At the recent launch of the crystal rose they also announced their support for a local children’s charity that will benefit every time a rose is sold.


Daniel Rockall, of Cornish Crystal World, has spent the last eight years developing the Cornish Crystal Rose, a unique symbol of remembrance. The Cornish Crystal Rose is handmade by experienced artisans in Cornwall and features a hollow glass stem into which a sample of your loved-ones’ ashes are sealed.

Life changing coffee

Bristol based business, The IT Storeroom, is the first company in the South West to have bought and installed a ‘life changing coffee’ machine which donates 50p from the sale of every drink to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


Based in Filwood Green Business Park, The IT Storeroom bought the machine from Majestic Coffee South West who install and maintain it.

Mum Nicola will run marathon around Plymouth in memory of son Ethan

After weeks and months of training Nicola Hague from Plymouth was one of thousands of runners devastated at the news that this year’s 40th Virgin London Marathon will not be going ahead in its usual way. But for Nicola the London Marathon meant much more than just completing 26 miles, she was going to be running in memory of her son Ethan and to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) which is why she will be running the virtual London marathon on 4th October.

From pallets to planters

Bristol Freemasons are supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) by supplying them with wooden pallets so they can be transformed into planters. The pallets have been lovingly reconstructed by Adam Gallagher who lives in Stockwood and is an active supporter of CHSW.

Running from London to Bristol in 24 hours

Next year Paul Dennett, a father of three from Frampton Cotterell, South Gloucestershire, turns 44 and plans to mark the occasion by running 112 miles from London to Bristol in just 24 hours. Dubbed ‘The Long Run Home’ Paul will be pounding the streets during the weekend of 6-7 February 2021 and asking for donations in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


Paul has a history of putting his body on the line for CHSW, a cause very close to his heart. Over the years he has taken part in some gruelling events in support of the charity and raised over £26,700 to date.

Swimmers from the Farm take the plunge

On September 27, three members of the care team from Charlton Farm will be taking the plunge and swimming in open water in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Last year various members of CHSW’s Charlton Farm braved the elements and swam a distance of 2km or 4km around the beautiful Lake Wimbleball in Exmoor as part of the annual Exmoor Open Water Swim.

Tim Wrathall from Portishead has recorded an album of songs with proceeds to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


Following the release of their debut album in 2018, Church of America have released a new collection of remixes with all download sales donated to CHSW. Based in North Somerset, the band formed from members of the critically acclaimed Bristol outfit, Tulamben.

Mum with terminal cancer helps poorly children

A selfless mum battling terminal cancer has put her own illness aside to help poorly children for a day.

Kathleen Hague, of Helston, was recently diagnosed with terminal small-cell lung cancer.

In the advanced stage, this cancer cannot be cured, but treatments are available to improve the quality of life and treat any symptoms.

The 61-year-old, who is a much-loved mother of three and grandmother to four, decided that instead of waiting for her hair to fall out because of chemotherapy treatments, that she was going to take control and have her daughter shave it off instead.

In 2005, keen long-distance walker and grandmother, Beryl Griffiths, walked more than 600 miles from Lowestoft to St David's Head to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). Beryl documented her walk and published a book entitled ‘Granny Trek’ about her adventures crossing Middle England and South Wales with her two dogs by her side.

Bereaved dad’s virtual London Marathon will retrace journey to children’s hospice

A bereaved dad from North Tawton will be joining 45,000 people running the first ever ‘virtual’ London Marathon next month.

Luke Compton had been gearing up to take on his second London Marathon in April but the event was postponed and finally cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead, he’ll be taking on the 40th edition of the world-famous race in his own way on October 4 – by running from his son Kaleb’s grave in North Tawton to Little Bridge House in Fremington, North Devon.
