Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is calling out for people to take part in its Santas on the Run event which is coming to Eden on Sunday 9 th December and is being sponsored by Ocean Group.

The event is a 2km festive fun run around Eden for all the family to take part in, there are no age restrictions and no fitness requirements it is just simply an opportunity to dress as Santa and celebrate the start of the festive season with friends, family or colleagues.

At the heart of the event though is a very important aim – to raise as much money as possible for Little Harbour children’s hospice

Dartmouth rowers take up the challenge in memory of Tillie

Female rowers from Dartmouth Amateur Rowing Club have raised an ‘oarsome’ £18,000 for Children’s Hospice South West – in just seven months!

They set themselves a number of challenges – both on and off the water – in memory of Tillie Pichowski, who received care at the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice in North Devon.

Tillie’s mum Jenny and fellow rowers Jo Langmead, Anna Lloyd, Ali McGrigor, Natasha Knight, Emma Alderman and Chrissy Rugg launched their ‘Tillie’s Stars’ fundraising appeal in April with a 24-hour sponsored row in Dartmouth's Royal Avenue Gardens.

The trusty vessel which will carry a team of Cornish friends on an epic 3000-mile charity row has left their training “home” of Mylor Yacht Harbour for the Canary Islands where the “Atlantic Seamen’s” Talisker Whiskey Challenge will begin.

During the months of intensive training and fundraising for the Urology Foundation and Children’s Hospice South West the team has seen changes with two members of the original line-up unavoidably pulling out and two new members stepping into the breach.

Tayen picked to open Christmas Tree farm

Seven year old Tayen, from Bridgwater, has a genetic condition known as Neurofibromatosis Type 1. The condition is incurable, and causes tumours to grow on nerves anywhere in her body. She has epilepsy and hydrocephalus, is completely blind, and has already endured several rounds of chemotherapy. She and her family visit Charlton Farm for respite breaks, and her mum Kali told us what the hospice means to Tayen: “She loves everyone there, she gets so excited. Bright Solicitors Running into Festive Season

Five brave colleagues from Bright Solicitors in Plymouth and Ivybridge are going to be donning their trainers as they plan to run 19km on 9 th December to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), the firm’s Charity of the Year.

The team were inspired to take part in CHSW’s Santas on the Run fun run which is happening at the Eden Project on 9 th December but decided to extend the challenge to incorporate Santas on the Run into a 19km route and will be donning Santa suits to run in.

Magical Exeter money experts turn £50 into nearly £7k for children’s hospice

There is a new team of entrepreneurs topping the 2018 Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) £50 Challenge leaderboard.

Financial experts at Prydis clearly have all the right skills when it comes to maximising investments – a team from the Exeter branch has turned £50 into £6,765 for the charity, which provides respite for families of children with life-limiting conditions throughout the South West.

The team is the latest to take up the CHSW corporate challenge, beating this year’s previous best set by Exeter engineering firm WSP.

And the Prydis team has also set an all-time record for the most

A six-year old girl from Weston has raised over £500 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Romani Holland, who goes to Haywood Village Academy school in Weston, said she was inspired to raise money for the hospice “because I don’t like that the children are poorly, and I want to help them feel better.” She raised the funds by being sponsored to have her long hair cut, and in the process, benefitted two charities, CHSW’s Charlton Farm and The Princess Trust.

Over £16k raised at Jail and Bail in Bristol

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) arrested, charged and put on trial nine professionals in Bristol on Thursday 25th October in a popular charity event known as Jail & Bail.

Baby Rupert Will Lead Santas on the Run at Eden

Rupert Connor-Latus will be just 9 weeks old on Sunday 9 th December when he will be Santa number 1 at Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Santas on the Run event at the Eden Project.

Santas on the Run is a 2km sponsored festive fun run which Rupert’s mum Sammy was keen to get him signed up for before he was even born along with siblings Flynn, Robyn and Evelyn.

Barnstaple engineering firm takes up the fundraising challenge for children’s hospice

Staff at Aero Stanrew in Barnstaple have raised nearly £9,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Nine teams at the engineering firm at Roundswell, a division of TT Electronics, were challenged to take part in a month of fundraising in August.

Efforts included a Mexican chilli day, prize draw and cream tea, as well as bucket collections at the North Devon Show, Okehampton show, Hatherleigh show, at Tesco Barnstaple, Asda Bideford and after each show at Circus Wonderland in Barnstaple.

Staff also donated ‘fines’ from a swear box and with matched company funding, the teams raised a total of £8712
