Jailbirds Raise £19,136 for Children’s Hospice South West

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) held its annual Jail and Bail fundraising event at Devonport Guildhall in Plymouth on Friday 15 th March which raised an amazing £19,136 for the local children’s charity.

12 local business people took part in the event which involved individuals getting arrested and put on trial for fictitious crimes including excessive networking, hacking facebook and being loud in the workplace.

Richard Wood chose a number of charities to benefit during his 2018 Captaincy at Long Ashton Golf Club. One of those was Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Along with his professional golfer son, Chris Wood, Richard visited CHSW’s Charlton Farm to hand over a cheque for £8,000.

Richard explains why he chose CHSW to be a beneficiary charity, “CHSW is only 5 minutes from our home and from the golf club so it was a natural choice. My son, Chris Wood, has been supporting the cause for many years too.”

Bideford sisters taking on London Marathon for two hospice charities

Two sisters from Bideford are taking on next month’s Virgin Money London Marathon in aid of North Devon’s two hospice charities.

Vikki Oliver, 29, is running the world’s biggest marathon on Sunday, April 28 in aid of Children’s Hospice South West, while sister Gemma Copp, 32, is taking part in aid of North Devon Hospice.

They have spent many months training together for their first ever marathon, at the same time as fundraising for their chosen charities.

New event is the perfect toe-dipper for open water swimmers

Even more swimmers are being invited to take on the thrill of an open water swim event in aid of Children’s Hospice South West this summer.

The charity has partnered with Dartmoor Open Water Swim to offer two shorter distance swims, alongside the 8,000m, 4,000m and 2,000m courses at Roadford Lake, near Okehampton, on Sunday, June 16.

For the first time, competent swimmers aged 12-16 can register to take part in a 500m child-only swim or a 500m family swim. There is also a 1,000m course for young swimmers and adults aged 14 and over.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is excited to announce that it has the support of Fugro as a sponsor for its Moonlight Memory Walk which is returning to Falmouth on 30 th March.

The Moonlight Memory Walk is a 5 mile sponsored walk which has been held annually for the past nine years to raise vital funds for CHSW which runs Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell. StarTrekers brave the elements to tackle annual Exmoor orienteering challenge

More than 200 walkers navigated their way across Exmoor in the 27th annual Rotary StarTrek Challenge on Saturday night.

A total of 46 teams, made up of 240 walkers, took part in this year’s event, organised by the two Ilfracombe Rotary clubs in aid of Children’s Hospice South West and North Devon Hospice and many other local charities and good causes.

Fresh off stage from his stint in Sticker’s panto The Frog Prince, by day Fred can be found working at MA Grigg Country Store near Sticker. However, by night Fred has been pounding the streets around Cornwall in all weathers training for this year’s London Marathon which he is running in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Business People Face a Day Behind Bars for Charity

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) will be arresting, charging and putting on trial some well-known business people from the local area who, if found guilty of their entirely fictitious crimes, will have to raise a bail of £999 each to be set free.

Jail and Bail has become an annual fundraising event held by CHSW to raise vital funds for its Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell which supports children and families from Plymouth and Cornwall.

Art exhibition in aid of Children’s Hospice South West opens in Wellington

An exhibition by beginner and experienced artists opens at an art gallery near Wellington on Sunday, March 10.

The ‘Show & Tell’ exhibition at The Old Brick Workshop in Higher Poole is being held to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

The work on show has been created by participants on courses run by Wellington artist Claire Western and will showcase a variety of mediums and techniques.

Claire said: “The artists on the courses vary from complete beginners to already competent painters and there has been so much good work done that I think it needs to be seen.

The Cholwill family, from Bridgerule, have now been making their wooden red nosed reindeer in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) for six years.

Their inspiration for creating this fundraising scheme was through the sad loss of their beloved son, brother and uncle, Mark, some years ago. However, little did they realise that the reindeer were going to be such a popular item to buy at Christmas time for so many people.
