Since May 2016, the team at international legal practice Osborne Clarke's Bristol office has fully embraced its commitment to its chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) in raising vital funds and awareness through a myriad of events.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) held its annual Jail and Bail fundraising event in Exeter on Friday 21st September, which raised over £11,000 for the local children’s charity.

Seven local business people took part in the event which involved individuals getting arrested and put on trial for fictitious crimes including noise pollution, being a Bristol Bears fan in Exeter Chief’s territory and being the world’s worse dancer!

Little Harbour Heroes take on Banger Rally

Nikki Isbell, Senior Care Team Leader at Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean is taking on the Banger Rally Challenge Gib or Bust with her husband and two friends and will be travelling across five countries in five days to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The team will be dressed, along with their suitably decorated car, as the Little Harbour Heroes and quite rightly so.

Nikki has worked as a children’s nurse at Little Harbour since it opened in December 2011 and sees every day what a difference short breaks as well as ongoing support can make to local families

£5,200 won by Buckfastleigh couple in CHSW Lottery

A Buckfastleigh couple are celebrating after winning more than £5,000 in the Children’s Hospice South West Lottery.

Norman and Jacqui Elliott started playing the charity’s weekly Lottery more than ten years ago, although Jacqui says they never expected to win anything: “I didn’t realise it was a Lottery at first, I thought of it as just making a regular donation. In fact, when I took the phone call, I thought the charity were calling to ask us for more money, not to tell Norman he’d won something!”

Jailbirds Need Your Help

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) will be arresting, charging and putting on trial some well-known business people in the area who, if found guilty of their entirely fictitious crimes, will have to raise a bail of £999 each to be set free. Funds raised on the day will help support the work of its Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Barnstaple.

Beaver Scouts Climb equivalent of Mount Kilimanjaro

In July, the 1st Bishopston Beaver Scout Colony challenged themselves to walk a combined distance of 5,895 meters - the height Mount of Kilimanjaro - by climbing the hill at Blaise Castle estate, finishing at the castle, to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

To complete the Mount Kilimanjaro challenge at least 20 people were needed to walk up the hill along with siblings and parents. Olly, CHSW’s Community Fundraiser, came to support the Beavers (aged 6-8 years) and tell the children about CHSW’s local hospice, Charlton Farm.

Charity Golf Day exceeds expectations

Golfers at Lansdown Golf Club exceeded expectations recently at the club’s charity golf day when over £7,000 was raised to be donated to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and CLIC Sargent.

The event took place on Friday 18 th August with over 100 people making up 35 teams playing on the course.

Making up the winning team were Dan Palomeque, Gavin Palomeque, Curtis Silcox and James Ledger.

Businesses Backing Plymouth Bubble Rush

The Fundraising Team from Children’s Hospice South West are delighted to receive support from two businesses for one of the charity’s upcoming Bubble Rush events which will be returning to Newnham Park in Plympton on Sunday 23 rd September.

Services Design Solution (SDS), based in The Millfields, and Viridor based in Plympton, will each be sponsoring one of the bubble stations around the route and will have a presence on the day along with main event sponsor GA Solicitors.

Porthleven duo complete epic bike ride and raise over £4,600 for children’s hospice

Geoff Harry who works at RGB Building Supplies’ Porthleven branch and RGB customer Steve Dyer recently swapped hard hats for helmets and cycled from John O’Groats to Lands End raising a fantastic £4,684 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The 1,000-mile journey took the pair 12 days to complete and saw them ride through Scotland, Wales and England. Geoff and Steve, who works for Helston based monumental masons J H Ching, rode unassisted and carried everything they needed.

The concept of ‘whole family care’ is a key part of the service at Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). Siblings, in particular, often share a special bond and the loss of a brother or sister will have a lifelong impact.

CHSW operates a Sibling Service at each hospice, providing dedicated support and care to the brothers and sisters of children who have life-limiting conditions. The service was established in recognition of their needs and provides much valued and dedicated care.

CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice, based in North Somerset, has been kindly gifted a brand new 7-seat Renault Scenic by
