Will you be joining hundreds of fundraising santas?
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is calling out for people to take part in its Santas on the Run event which is coming to Eden on Sunday 9th December and is being sponsored by Ocean Group.
The event is a 2km festive fun run around Eden for all the family to take part in, there are no age restrictions and no fitness requirements it is just simply an opportunity to dress as Santa and celebrate the start of the festive season with friends, family or colleagues.
At the heart of the event though is a very important aim – to raise as much money as possible for Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean. Money raised will enable the hospice to continue providing care and support for children living with extremely complex medical conditions and facing a very uncertain future.
Kiley Pearce, Events Fundraiser for CHSW explains the importance of this event to the charity “Santas on the Run is always a lot of fun and is a fantastic festive day. However the event is more important than the fun it gives those taking part; it is about the smiles and memories the money raised can give the families we look after. Your registration fee simply covers the cost of you taking part in the event, it is the sponsorship you raise that helps us in being able to continue supporting local children and families with short breaks and respite at the hospice as well as end of life care.”
Little Harbour children’s hospice is open 365 days a year and will be providing 24-hour care and support to families over the Christmas period. Claire Kilbey, Head of Care at Little Harbour said
Christmas can be a really hard time of year for the families we support, caring for their child does not stop just because it is Christmas and many parents will be facing a continuation of sleepless nights and days filled with administering medications and feeds. We have families booked in for respite stays at Little Harbour over the festive period and we will be on hand if others require emergency stays.
Santas of any age can take part in Santas on the Run by running, jogging or walking the route and will need to sign up online by 5th December. To sign up simply click here prices are £15 for adults and £7.50 for children, under 3’s can take part for free and you can choose to take part at 11am or 2pm.
Everyone taking part will be given a free Santa suit to wear as well as a medal, festive treat and free access to Eden for the day.
Santas on the Run events are also happening on the same day at RHS Rosemoor and Bristol Harbourside.
