Freemasons from across the West Country have made a very special £29,000 donation to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) in memory of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
A total of 29 Mark lodges from across the region each nominated a local CHSW hospice to receive a share of a £1.3million wider grant from the Mark Benevolent Fund, the official charity of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons. Money was distributed to more than 250 hospices across England and Wales to celebrate the life of the Duke, himself a Freemason, who died in April.
The Apex City of Bath Hotel is supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) by inviting people to enjoy a cream tea at its luxurious hotel.
Available up until the end of September, customers can choose from a selection of teas, coffees, and beautiful buttery scones for just £8.50 per person. For every cream tea sold, Apex Hotels will donate £1 to CHSW, however customers are welcome to donate above and beyond this amount if they so wish.

This event will be raising funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW); a charity supporting local children with life limiting illnesses, and Man Down; a charity supporting mens mental health in Cornwall.
Boxing in the Bowl will consist of 10 bouts of boxing by local boxers, each competing in their relevent weight categories.
Israel Stanway from Goldsithney, assistant Pastor at Light and Life Free Methodist Church in Hayle, is swapping his collar for leathers as he is organising a charity motorcycle ride from Marazion to Lands End.
The ride is taking place on 18 September and will be raising vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), which is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this year.
The Stonemasons pub in Ilminster recently handed over a cheque for £342.30 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
Manager Dan Cutts said: “We chose Children's Hospice South West as one of our team members Jade had a dear friend called Rosemary Reid who always supported the children's hospice at any events she did. Rosemary recently held a garden party and raised a lot of money. Unfortunately, soon after that event she passed away, so this was very much in memory of her.”
