Redruth hosting charity boxing bout

Boxing in the bowl on 19th September

19 September will see Redruth Cricket Club hosting a charity boxing match; Boxing in the Bowl.

This event will be raising funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW); a charity supporting local children with life limiting illnesses, and Man Down; a charity supporting mens mental health in Cornwall.

Boxing in the Bowl will consist of 10 bouts of boxing by local boxers, each competing in their relevent weight categories.

All the boxers have been training hard in the lead up to the event, fitting in sessions between work and family life. Everyone involved is keen to give a good show to those coming to experience the Cornish boxing scene at this charity match.

Doors to the event marquee at the cricket club will open at 1pm, food will be available from Roseworthy Farms and bars will be open with a selection of drinks. A DJ will provide the soundtrack to the bouts throughout the day and the matches will be followed by a disco concluding at 10pm. Ticket sales and donations on the day will be donated to CHSW and money raised from the raffle will be donated to Man Down.

Event organiser, Ryan J Clark said; “Everyone has put so much hard work and training in during the lead up to this event that we hope it is a great success for both charities we’re supporting.

The boxers are all really passionate about supporting good causes; Children’s Hospice South West means a great deal to myself and the fighters and in current times mental health awareness has become so much more prominent and boxing has become a great outlet for people so we also wanted to show our support to Man Down Cornwall.

Alice Merrett, Area Fundraiser for CHSW said “We are delighted that the boxers have chosen to support CHSW as one of the charities for this event. It is set to be a great day and those into boxing will be in for a real treat.”

Tickets can be purchased from Redruth Cricket Club, direct from everyone taking part, on the door and for more information contact Ryan J Clark 07379979647 or visit the ‘Hammer Sports Promotions’ facebook event page.
