Highway to Well Charity Motorcycle Ride

Israel Stanway from Goldsithney, assistant Pastor at Light and Life Free Methodist Church in Hayle, is swapping his collar for leathers as he is organising a charity motorcycle ride from Marazion to Lands End.


The ride is taking place on 18 September and will be raising vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), which is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this year.


Anyone wishing to take part should meet at the Station House in Marazion at 10am on the 18 September, where the ride will leave from. Participation will cost £10 per bike which will be donated straight to CHSW, the

The Stonemasons pub in Ilminster recently handed over a cheque for £342.30 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


Manager Dan Cutts said: “We chose Children's Hospice South West as one of our team members Jade had a dear friend called Rosemary Reid who always supported the children's hospice at any events she did. Rosemary recently held a garden party and raised a lot of money. Unfortunately, soon after that event she passed away, so this was very much in memory of her.”

Tucker’s Grave Inn is inviting people to raise money for local families one scone at a time with a special cream tea in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


The Faulkland pub is inviting people to its new café bar on Saturday 11 September from 3-5pm to a cream tea to help CHSW provide support and care to families of children with life-limiting conditions.

Hundreds of Minis out in force for children’s hospice

Hundreds of Minis were back out in force in North Devon at the weekend, raising thousands of pounds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

A total of 256 Minis took part in the 25th annual Legendary Grand Tour over the August Bank Holiday weekend, culminating in a rally from Bideford’s Victoria Park on Monday.

Drivers and passengers, many of them and their Minis in fancy dress, headed out in convoy along the quay towards CHSW’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Fremington, and on to Barnstaple, Bratton Fleming, Lynton, Combe Martin and Ilfracombe.

Pair to walk between 3 hospices

On Monday 6 September, Chard Rotary Club President, Peter Stefanovic, and Past President, Paul Arnold, will walk 156 miles to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


The pair plan to walk between CHSW’s three hospices, starting at Charlton Farm in Wraxall, North Somerset, then onto Little Bridge House in North Devon and finally finishing at Little Harbour in St. Austell, Cornwall.


Rather than set a target of covering a certain number of miles per day they thought it would be more sensible to approach this challenge in terms of hours active each day.

£1400 raised at Mary Tavy garden

A couple from Mary Tavy near Tavistock are delighted that opening their garden over three days this summer has raised £1400 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


Husband and wife Roger and Melanie Baldry opened their three acre garden; Warren Lodge in Mary Tavy, on 6 June, 4 July and 1 August.

Visitors booked a slot to visit the garden and could explore the garden’s small orchard, vegetable plot and cutting garden. Visitors were treated to cream teas and cakes, served by Tavistock Friends Group of CHSW, while admiring the views of Dartmoor and listening to harpist Tim Hampson.

CHSW bags £15,000 donation from The Range

Local children’s charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), has recently received a donation of £15,000 from The Range.


The home, leisure and garden retailer with headquarters in Plymouth donated the money from its carrier bag levy scheme. This is not the first time The Range has made a donation from funds collected from the scheme which charges customers for a carrier bag rather than giving them for free with each purchase.

Somerset pub serves up art with its cider

One of Somerset’s oldest cider houses supports Children’s Hospice South West with watercolour sales in its new café bar.


Tucker’s Grave Inn, based in Faulkland, is marking the opening of its newly built café bar with a wall of watercolours on sale to support families helped by Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


The new café features framed limited edition prints from local artist David Graham, who is donating all profits to support the charity in its thirtieth anniversary year of giving care to children with life limiting conditions.

Sisters Cheryl and Sam are holding a family fun day at Yeovil Rugby Club on Saturday 28 August, from 10am-3pm to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


The charity is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and Sam is passionate about fundraising for the local hospice, Charlton Farm, as it provides respite care to her family.

Bristol man to run 105km in a day

Luke Trimmings, 29, from Bristol is running from Minehead to Bristol in support of local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


The route is a staggering 105 kilometers (65.24 miles) and Luke is aiming to complete his challenge on 9th October before he turns 30 in November.


Luke started taking his running to new lengths during the pandemic as it supported his wellbeing and mental health. He said: “I’ve run 60km to date in one hit. I’ll be having people pacing me for some sections of the run and I’m planning for it to be done in 12-14hrs.”
