Young charity ambassadors to make it a May to remember for children’s hospice

Young supporters of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) are encouraging people to take on a 30-themed activity to celebrate the charity’s 30th anniversary next month.

The 30-Day May Mission is open to everyone, whatever their age or ability, with participants asked to challenge themselves with an activity of their choice and raise a few pounds at the same time.

The initiative has been created by CHSW’s Young Ambassadors, a group of sixth form students from local schools and colleges across North Devon, who have participated in the charity’s Young Ambassador programme. Through the programme

The largest residential estate agency in the UK, Countrywide, has chosen to support Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) following an all-staff vote to choose its 2021 charity of the year.

A leading firm of South West accountants is sponsoring a new fundraising challenge being held to raise thousands of pounds to support seriously ill local children. Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants is supporting The Incredible Hike for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), which runs throughout May, National Walking Month.

Rainbow Run Your Way this Summer

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is excited to announce plans for its Rainbow Run Your Way fundraiser on 19 – 20 June 2021.


Rainbow Run has become an event synonymous with sunny days and explosions of colour across three different locations in the south west. Last year for the first time the event went virtual and still raised £100,000 for the charity. This year participants will be encouraged to once again take on the Rainbow Run in their own way.


Open to absolutely anyone who wants to get involved, CHSW is encouraging participants to pick a route of any distance and complete it however

Running 112 miles in 24 hours!

Paul Dennett, 44, a father of three from Frampton Cotterell, South Gloucestershire, is running 112 miles from London to Bristol in just 24 hours. Dubbed ‘The Long Run Home’ Paul will be pounding the streets on Saturday 10 April in support of Children’s Hospice South West's (CHSW) Sibling Support Service.

Paul has a history of putting his body on the line for CHSW, a cause very close to his heart. Over the years he has taken part in some gruelling events in support of the charity and raised over £26,700 to date.

Local artist helps children’s hospice to celebrate 30th anniversary

A local amateur artist from Radstock, near Bath, is hoping that sales of his watercolour landscapes will help Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) to meet its fundraising targets in its milestone anniversary year.


David Graham, in his seventies, took up painting when he retired from work and set himself the target of working away at his hobby until he was able to sell his artwork in aid of children’s charities. So far he has raised over £10,000.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is asking people to take on an Incredible Hike and raise some vital pounds for the charity this May.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2021, the charity has lined up 30 inspiring walking routes across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset for people to choose from – or they can simply pick one of their own.

Ryan’s lockdown rugby kit is raising thousands for frontline healthcare workers

A young rugby fan from North Devon is raising thousands of pounds for ‘healthcare superheroes’ by selling rainbow-themed rugby shirts and balls that he designed during lockdown.

Eleven-year-old Ryan Mahajan has raised £5,000 for charity since June last year after watching the news and being inspired by the incredible efforts of frontline healthcare workers.

With the help of his family’s company, Aramis Rugby in South Molton, he produced and sold colourfully designed shirts and balls in aid of North Devon Hospice and North Devon District Hospital charity Over and Above.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted to be one of two local charities to benefit from an upcoming quiz night being hosted by Shaun Wallace, AKA The Dark Destroyer, from ITV game show The Chase.


Shaun will be the quiz master for the Cornwall Channel Big Quiz which will be run via zoom on Saturday 24 April and will raise funds for CHSW and Cornwall Air Ambulance.
