Ten members of the construction team involved with the building of St Erth Multi Modal Hub at the train station in St Erth completed a tandem skydive and have raised vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The team was made up of colleagues from Wills Bros Civil Engineering as well as Ward Williams Associates who beat their fundraising target of £5000 by raising £6378.44 for the local children’s charity. On the skydive team were: Stuart Angus, Kieran Mooney, Anna Kelly, Sean Vesey, David Lynch, Garikai Simango, Curtis Harrold, Seamus Harrold, Kieren Couch & Mick Stephenson.

The Linda Mortimore & Charlotte Smith School of Dance has raised £3536 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) at its most recent dance show held in June at Ivybridge Community College.

Children from two and half years old to 24 took part in the ‘Summer Spectacular and Cinderella’ show. Dancers and teachers had dedicated 12 weeks to rehearsals including weekends to perfect their routines which was all made worth it when the show was an absolute triumph.

There were emotional scenes at the weekend as 85 cyclists arrived at Children’s Hospice South West’s Charlton Farm having journeyed in extreme heat from Cornwall as part of the charity’s annual Ride for Precious Lives (RFPL) event.

85 cyclists left CHSW’s Little Harbour hospice in St Austell on Friday, made their way to CHSW’s Little Bridge House hospice in Devon, eventually finishing at CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice in North Somerset on Sunday – 205 miles in just 3 days.

This was the 10 th year of the event which has raised over £700,000 for the charity since the first Ride for Precious Lives

St Austell hosted the start of Children’s Hospice South West’s 10th Anniversary Ride for Precious Lives this morning.

85 cyclists left Little Harbour in St Austell; one of the charity’s three children’s hospices in the south west, embarking on a 205 mile cycle to Bristol this weekend.

The route will take the participants three days and will cover Cornwall, Devon and Somerset dropping in at CHSW’s Little Bridge House hospice on Saturday and finishing at Charlton Farm children’s hospice near Bristol on Sunday. Archie who goes to The Downs School, a stone's throw from our Charlton Farm hospice, has climbed The National Three Peaks - Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England & Snowdon in Wales - and raised funds for CHSW!

The year 7 pupil completed the challenge in just three days and raised over £2,000. Archie's total walking distance was 23 miles, his total ascent, 3064 metres and he was driven a distance of 462 miles.

Karen Goodman, Cook at Little Harbour children’s hospice and daughter of retired Reverend Peter Eustice from St Stephen in Brannel, is embarking on a challenge like no other.

Lanjeth local Karen will be taking to the skies this week strapped to a plane when she hopes to complete a sponsored wing walk to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Day to day Karen is on the team that prepares home cooked meals for all of the children and families that stay at Little Harbour for short breaks and respite. Karen meets families receiving care and support from the hospice every day

Children’s Hospice South West is celebrating after being certified “plastic free” for its events in Devon.

The charity has been working with Plastic Free North Devon to reduce the environmental impact of its fundraising events, which attract support across the whole county. Events including the recent Rainbow Run in Exeter, the forthcoming Ride for Precious Lives cycle challenge, the Canonteign Abseil and September’s foam-filled Bubble Rush 5km run at Coxleigh Barton have all received the Plastic Free North Devon seal of approval for a range of eco-friendly measures.

A group of ladies called ‘Keynsham Chicks’ from the town in North East Somerset, headed up by Margaret Thompson, have knitted over 3,000 chicks, put crème eggs in them and sold them to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW)!

CHSW Fundraising Assistant, Emma Parker, said ‘Margaret has encouraged local community groups to help her with the knitting and we were lucky to have many of them visit CHSW’s Charlton Farm to present us with a cheque. We’re delighted that this year, Keynsham Chicks raised £2,600, making their grand total over £6,400 in two years!’

All colours of the rainbow could be seen at RAF St Mawgan on Sunday at Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) 5 th annual Rainbow Run sponsored by Ann’s Cottage.

The event saw around 1500 people of all ages run, jog and walk the 5k route around RAF St Mawgan’s training ground and get covered in different coloured powder paint along the way.

Organisers of the event from CHSW’s Fundraising Team hope the Rainbow Run will raise in the region of £75,000 for Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell.

Westpoint Arena was showered with all the colours of the rainbow as over 1200 runners took part in Children’s Hospice South West’s annual fundraising Rainbow Run.

The run is the flagship fundraising event for the charity, and this year is set to raise an astonishing £50,000 for CHSW’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice near Barnstaple.

This year’s runners were treated to music from Radio Exe, face-painters, bouncy castles, Taiko drummers and a whole lot of coloured powder paint!
