Proof that you are never too old! Ray and Arthur set to skydive in support of CHSW!

Intrepid duo, aged 90 and 86, take on skydive for local charities!

Ray Hales, aged 90 and his friend Arthur Bennett, aged 86 from Barnstaple are braving an incredible skydive to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and North Devon Hospice.

They will both be jumping from Dunkeswell Airfield, near Honiton on 20 May 2018 and Ray said: ‘I jumped on behalf of CHSW when I was 85, and vowed, if I was still fit when I was 90, then I would do it again. I’m really delighted that my good friend of over 30 years, Arthur will be joining me this time in raising money for both hospices-

The cast of Wicked visit Charlton Farm

Principle and Ensemble cast members of Wicked, the spectacular West End and Broadway musical, made a special visit to see the children and families currently staying at Bristol’s dedicated children’s hospice, Charlton Farm.

Helen Woolf, Steven Pinder, Kim Ismay, Emily Shaw and Iddon Jones alongside Ensemble cast members filled the hospice with music and song, took part in activities with the children, and generally raised the roof at Charlton Farm, which currently supports children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Ann's Cottage Announced as Rainbow Run Newquay Sponsor

Local surf and lifestyle retailer Ann’s Cottage has been confirmed as the main sponsor for Children’s Hospice South West’s Rainbow Run in Newquay which raises vital funds for CHSW and its Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell.

Ann’s Cottage has sponsored the 5 km fun run since its first year in 2014 and its sponsorship means that more of the money raised by those taking part can go straight to the charity rather than going towards event costs.

The Rainbow Run is a fun run with a difference and involves participants of all ages running through different coloured paint stations around

Edwards Vacuum Sponsor 10th Ride for Precious Lives

Edwards Vacuum (part of the Atlas Copco Group) is a global engineering company based in Clevedon and is generously sponsoring Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) 10 th Ride for Precious Lives event.

The Ride for Precious Lives is a 205 mile, 3 day, cycling challenge which has been completed by over 750 cyclists over the last nine years and raised an incredible £725,000 for CHSW.

Ride for Precious Lives will be taking place 6 th – 8 th July and encompasses all three of CHSW’s children’s hospices across the south west region. It will start at Little Harbour in Cornwall, visit Little Bridge

Mark attempts Guinness World Record in support of CHSW

Not content with walking 138 miles non-stop in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) in 2017, long term supporter of the charity, Mark Edwards, new fundraising challenge is attempting an official 50 hour non-stop bass guitar playing Guinness World Record bid!

The current record is 40 hours and Mark’s attempt to set a new World Record will take place over the Easter weekend at the Fairway Buoy in Westward Ho! Mark will have to play recognised songs non-stop to a ‘reasonable standard’, and the event must be filmed throughout.

A team of 21, including 14 employees from Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske (RCHT) X-Ray Department and 7 friends and family, embarked on the Three Peaks Challenge last year raising funds for Fistral Children’s Ward at RCHT and Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

A total of £6034.32 was raised which will be split evenly between the two causes.

The challenge was to complete the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours however after a 14 hour journey to Scotland from Cornwall along with a few injuries and setbacks the 24 hour target became less of a reality.

Two supporters of Children's Hospice South West are taking on the London Marathon this year in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) – and for both it’s their first ever marathon!
Emma Smale, aged 33 from Bideford used CHSW’s Little Bridge House hospice in Fremington for support and care with her daughter Imogen before her death in March 2016. Emma wanted to give something back to the hospice for the help it had given her and her family, and decided to aim big by applying for one of the charity’s places at this legendary event.

Legendary Grand Tour Donates Minibus to Little Harbour

The staff and families at Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Little Harbour hospice at Porthpean in St Austell were delighted to receive a donation of a minibus from the infamous Legendary Grand Tour.

The Legendary Grand Tour is an event held every year in North Devon where hundreds of minis from all over the UK come together and drive a set route over the August bank holiday weekend raising funds for various charities and good causes. Last year 230 minis took part along with 40 motorbikes helping to marshal the route.

Fundraising partnership with Curo raises over £10k

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) has enjoyed a year-long partnership with Bath-based housing association Curo.

Curo staff chose CHSW as their charity of the year for 2017 and have taken part in numerous events, contributing to the fundraising total of more than £10,000. Individuals from Curo have hauled themselves through the mud - Rood Rampage and the winter Monster Race – in the name of charity, as well as entering the iconic Bath Half Marathon. Are you up for the Star Trek Challenge?

One of the biggest fundraising events of the year returns on the weekend of March 3 and 4, 2018 and the Ilfracombe Rotary Clubs are hoping it will be one of the best yet!

This infamous annual night trek across Exmoor helps to support Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and North Devon Hospice and other local charities, and Paul Williams, from Ilfracombe Rotary said: ‘Our first Star Trek was back in 1992 and since then nearly 9000 people have taken part. The trek has always benefitted local charities and to date nearly a million in sponsorship has been raised. We would love the event to
