A Celebration of Life through Music at Bath Abbey

On the evening of Wednesday 15 May, local charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) held a celebratory event at Bath Abbey.

Supported by the Abbey and The Joyce Fletcher Charitable Trust, the event sought to raise awareness of and insight into the care and support provided by CHSW’s Charlton Farm, located just 20 miles from Bath.

A VIP reception was held before the event courtesy of St John’s Foundation at its function room, The Bubble, and sponsorship from the Charter Trustees of the City of Bath. This was attended by civic dignitaries, families supported by CHSW and long-term supporters

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is looking for teams to take part in its annual gig row event in Newquay on Sunday 14 th July.

This is an annual event offering groups of colleagues, friends or family the chance to give the fantastic sport of gig rowing a go in a friendly event, all supporting a great local cause.

Amanda Masters, Community Fundraiser for CHSW is encouraging teams to get signed up and come and get involved.

Taunton 'Old Men' saddle up for ultimate charity cycle ride

A Taunton man is celebrating turning 50 this year by taking on one of the UK’s ultimate sporting challenges …with a little help from his friends!

Pete Robinson will be joined by 12 fellow ‘old men’ on a 1,000-mile cycle ride from John O’Groats in Scotland to Land’s End in Cornwall later this month in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The friends, all aged 50 to 59, will be clocking up an average of 80 miles a day during the 12-day Old Men Go South cycle challenge, which gets under way on May 29.

Charities are often donated some very special or quirky items. During the end of last year, Mandy Parsons from Clevedon saw some interesting Christmas decorations being given new homes and thought that local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) would benefit from them.

The items in question were two life-size soldiers and they used to be part of the Hawthorns’ Christmas decorations during Mandy’s time as Manager of the retirement home.

Enjoy thrilling dragon boat racing on River Dart in aid of children’s hospice

The River Dart will provide the arena for an exciting afternoon of dragon boat racing on Sunday, July 14.

Up to 21 authentic dragon boats will be battling it out on the river, helping to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and Rowcroft Hospice, and providing a thrilling spectacle for spectators expected to line the banks at Longmarsh.

Eddie Farwell to open new charity shop in Ashburton

Children’s Hospice South West's co-founder and chief executive, Eddie Farwell, will be officially opening the charity's newest shop in Ashburton on May 14.

Mr Farwell, who set up the charity with his late wife Jill in 1991, will cut the ribbon to open the new shop at 9 North Street at 10.30am.

The town centre shop will offer a range of goods, including women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories, as well as children’s toys and games and homewares.

North Devon firm’s year-long fundraising pledge for Children’s Hospice South West

A business advisory firm with roots in South Molton and Holsworthy is launching a year-long fundraising drive to support Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Baldwins’ offices on Pathfields Business Park, South Molton and Fry Street, Holsworthy have pledged their fundraising to the hospice after staff voted for CHSW to be the firm’s charity of the year.

Art and Sculpture Exhibition Arriving at Delamore

Delamore Art and Sculpture Exhibition will be opening on 1 st May bringing a month of artistic delights to Delamore house and gardens at Cornwood near Ivybridge for all to enjoy.

This is the 17 th year of the annual event which presents the largest collection of artist’s work in one place in the south west. Last year around 150 artists exhibited work and a record 8,000 people visited the historic estate in Cornwood on the southern edge of Dartmoor to view the pieces displayed in both the gardens and the house.

Each year the exhibition supports a different charity and Children’s Hospice South
