Land Rover Restoration Results in Charity Donation

The Tamar Restoration and Engineering Club based between Saltash and Callington have recently handed over a donation of £500 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) following the completion of the restoration of a Land Rover.

The club fully restored an old Land Rover which, once back to its former glory, was exported to Ireland. Instead of taking payment for projects such as this the club collect money for local charities which this time round included CHSW.

Marco Pierre White visits Charlton Farm

Internationally renowned chef, restaurateur and television personality, Marco Pierre White, recently visited CHSW's Charlton Farm hospice to look around the facilities and chat with staff and families.

It was Marco’s second visit to the children’s hospice since it opened in 2007. Also with him was Nick Taplin, Marco's friend and business partner, Chairman and CEO of Black and White Hospitality.

Fairfield School links up with Charlton Farm

Pupils from Fairfield School in Backwell have been supporting their local children’s hospice in a variety of ways throughout 2019.

The Independent Day School is located just a few miles from Charlton Farm children’s hospice, which cares for children with life-limiting conditions who are not expected to reach adulthood.

The school donated food collected at their Harvest festival to the local children’s hospice where they were gratefully received. Emma Parker, Community Fundraiser for the charity said: “We’d like to thank Fairfield’s children, staff and parents for their kind donations

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is calling on companies to help sponsor one of its children’s nurses this Christmas.

The charity, which runs children’s hospices in St Austell, Barnstaple and Bristol is asking firms to pledge £1,000 towards its ‘ Sponsor a Nurse’ appeal and help make Christmas that little bit more special for local families this year.

One of the hospice nurses said: “By sponsoring one of our nurses, you’ll be helping us to provide special care to families whose children are not expected to live into adulthood. We’re there for families whenever they need us, 24-hours-a-day

Coast 2 Coast brothers donate to CHSW

Steve and Mark Smith from Coast 2 Coast Security based in St Austell have recently handed over a donation of £3,324 to Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Little Harbour following their fundraising from the Banger Rally Challenge in 2018 and 2019.

The brothers drove their limo to Gibraltar in 2018 on the challenge and then to Pompeii in Italy in 2019 and all in fancy dress.

Music At The Chapel this Christmas

The fabulous team At The Chapel in Bruton have joined forces with Dominic Greensmith and Amy Newton's band Girl plus very special guests to host a festive evening featuring all-time favourite Christmas songs, in support of Children's Hospice South West (CHSW).

CHSW provides respite and short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care at three wonderful children's hospices; Charlton Farm in Somerset, Little Bridge House in Devon and Little Harbour in Cornwall. All proceeds from this event will go towards helping local children with life limiting conditions and their families

Harbour Walls single released

Staff at Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean in St Austell have been busy working on a charity single which is now available to buy to help raise funds for, and awareness of, Children’s Hospice South West.

Harbour Walls was written by Richard Trethewey who works as a Music Therapist at Little Harbour children’s hospice. Richard wanted to create a song involving all the staff at the hospice to sing to bereaved families at the hospice’s annual Remembering Day.

The words of the song were compiled from contributions from staff and are themed around the idea of a harbour being a place

Hundreds of Santas take part in festive fun run at RHS Rosemoor

Hundreds of Santas took part in a festive fun run for Children’s Hospice South West at RHS Garden Rosemoor on Sunday.

Massed ranks of more than 400 Father Christmases ran the 2km course around the beautiful gardens, near Great Torrington.

Storm Atiyah had threatened 70mph gales but the valley setting provided a perfect haven for the charity’s Santas on the Run event. In fact, the only adverse weather conditions were snow flurries caused by a snow machine designed to add extra festive flavour to the event.

Santas sprint at Eden for sponsorship

More Santas than ever were seen at Eden on Sunday for Children's Hospice South West's (CHSW) Santas on the Run sponsored fun run.

Over 650 Santas of all ages took part in the 2km fun run around Eden which the charity hopes will raise around £20,000 to support children and families that visit Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean for short breaks, respite and end of life care.

A sea of Santas could be seen weaving their way around the paths at Eden and even through the Mediterranean biome. Some Santas even decorated pushchairs and wheelchairs to really embrace the festive spirit. The

Over 1200 people descended on Bristol yesterday for the Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) annual Santas on the Run.

Waterfront square was a sea of red as adults, children, prams and dogs dressed festively and made their way round the harbourside raising Christmas cheer in their Santa gear!

Freddie de Gennaro started the run. He and his family are supported by CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice. His mum, Justine, spoke to the runners before they set off.
