Castle Veterinary Group Supporting CHSW

Castle Veterinary Group based in Launceston has chosen to support Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as it’s charity of the year and launched the partnership at the Launceston Agricultural Show.

The group decided to choose the children’s charity because of the work that they do supporting local children with life limiting and life-threatening illnesses and their families – making the most of short and precious lives.

CHSW has three children’s hospices in the south west; Little Bridge House in Barnstaple, Charlton Farm near Bristol and Little Harbour in St Austell and is supporting over 500

The organisers of Little Bridge Stock, a family festival held at the Old Station Inn, Blackmoor Gate, have handed over a donation of £2176.61 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

This was the seventh year of the annual festival which hosted performances from a range of local bands and musicians across two stages including Yazzy, The Big Fat Blues Band, Coast to Coast, The 5.15, Jolly Joker and Good Company. The festival was free to attend and proved very popular with families from the local area.

Marcus’ ‘Trestimonial’ Bike Ride for CHSW

With a career spanning 25 years, Marcus Trescothick is applauded in his field and as an acknowledgement to his contribution to sport, he has been awarded a second Testimonial year in which he will be raising funds for the Professional Cricketers Association (PCA) Benevolent Fund and Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Marcus has announced he will be taking part in a 5-day Bike Ride in support of CHSW.

Walk for Alba

Alba is two years old and lives in Almondsbury, South Gloucestershire, with her parents. Alba’s Aunt Laura and four cousins live in Loch Leven in Scotland and it is here that Alba’s Scottish-based family have undertaken a 13-mile walk to raise funds for the hospice that supports her, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

CHSW has three hospices across the South West that provide the very best care for children with life limiting conditions and their families. Alba and her family - Mum Roz and Dad Adam - are allocated 12 nights a year at CHSW’s Charlton Farm, just outside of Bristol.

CHSW’s Totnes shop celebrates its 5th birthday

The Children’s Hospice South West shop in Totnes recently celebrated its 5 th birthday, with a special thank you to the volunteers and customers who have supported the shop since it opened.

The shop in High Street, Totnes, opened in July 2013, and marked five years of trading with a special cake made by shop manager’s assistant Julia Howarth to thank volunteers and customers for their continued support.

Charity partnership flying high

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted being Bristol Airport’s charity partner again for 2018. Each year Airport staff are asked to vote and support one charity and, for the fourth consecutive year, CHSW is the nominated charity of the year.

Last year alone the partnership raised over £25k and fundraising activities are continuing in 2018; the next activity arranged is on 28 th July when eight Bristol Airport team members will walk 80k in just one day! A golf day is also arranged in September challenging business partners and suppliers to compete against the Bristol Airport team.

Skydive Completed by St Erth Team

Ten members of the construction team involved with the building of St Erth Multi Modal Hub at the train station in St Erth completed a tandem skydive and have raised vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The team was made up of colleagues from Wills Bros Civil Engineering as well as Ward Williams Associates who beat their fundraising target of £5000 by raising £6378.44 for the local children’s charity. On the skydive team were: Stuart Angus, Kieran Mooney, Anna Kelly, Sean Vesey, David Lynch, Garikai Simango, Curtis Harrold, Seamus Harrold, Kieren Couch & Mick Stephenson.

Dancers Raise over £3000

The Linda Mortimore & Charlotte Smith School of Dance has raised £3536 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) at its most recent dance show held in June at Ivybridge Community College.

Children from two and half years old to 24 took part in the ‘Summer Spectacular and Cinderella’ show. Dancers and teachers had dedicated 12 weeks to rehearsals including weekends to perfect their routines which was all made worth it when the show was an absolute triumph.

Emotional scenes as cyclists finish 3-day challenge

There were emotional scenes at the weekend as 85 cyclists arrived at Children’s Hospice South West’s Charlton Farm having journeyed in extreme heat from Cornwall as part of the charity’s annual Ride for Precious Lives (RFPL) event.

85 cyclists left CHSW’s Little Harbour hospice in St Austell on Friday, made their way to CHSW’s Little Bridge House hospice in Devon, eventually finishing at CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice in North Somerset on Sunday – 205 miles in just 3 days.

This was the 10 th year of the event which has raised over £700,000 for the charity since the first Ride for Precious Lives

85 Riding for Precious Lives

St Austell hosted the start of Children’s Hospice South West’s 10th Anniversary Ride for Precious Lives this morning.

85 cyclists left Little Harbour in St Austell; one of the charity’s three children’s hospices in the south west, embarking on a 205 mile cycle to Bristol this weekend.

The route will take the participants three days and will cover Cornwall, Devon and Somerset dropping in at CHSW’s Little Bridge House hospice on Saturday and finishing at Charlton Farm children’s hospice near Bristol on Sunday.
