Family fundraising event raises over £9k

Nerys Daniels from Regil in Chew Valley organised and hosted a hugely successful event to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), which supports her son Toby aged 3.

Called ‘We are Family’ the evening included a sparkling reception, 3-course meal, music and entertainment and an auction. The auction prizes were all ‘inclusive’ meaning they suited families with children who may have complex needs.

Marshall VW Raise over £2,000 for CHSW at Birdman

On 3 rd August two teams from Marshall Volkswagen Barnstaple entered this year’s Birdman competition organised by Illfracombe Round Table and have raised over £2000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) while doing so.

Teams from Marshall Volkswagen Barnstaple have taken part in the annual event for the past four years and this year chose to support CHSW, which runs Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Barnstaple, with their fundraising. Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is on the hunt for some brave souls to take part in their brand-new fundraising event coming to Plymouth - the Firewalk.

The Firewalk is a sponsored event giving participants the chance to push their boundaries and walk along a path of hot coals at temperatures of 1200˚F in front of the beautiful Kitley House Hotel.

The event is taking place on Thursday 7 th November from 6pm and CHSW is looking for people to take part in what will be the shortest, hottest, sponsored walk happening in Plymouth this year.

HellermannTyton Handover Donation to CHSW

Plymouth based HellermannTyton Ltd, a multi-national cable management business, have recently handed over a donation of £2737.30 to local charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

CHSW was chosen as the charity they would support for a year after a company-wide vote.

The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow has handed over a cheque for £22,000 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) after putting on charity lunches in January. The chance for diners to sample a three-course set lunch menu at the well-known restaurant was snapped up by many locals and visitors and proved more popular then ever. Castle Vets Thanked for Year of Fundraising

One of the largest, independent vet practices in the south west, Castle Veterinary Group in Launceston, has had a busy year of fundraising for its chosen charity of the year; Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The year-long partnership has now come to end and was celebrated by a cheque presentation of their generous donation of £3877.64 presented to Zoe Partridge, Community Fundraiser for CHSW.

Martin Pearce from Westbury in Wiltshire first began fundraising for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) in 2017, the year he was to turn 50. He said “I raise funds for a charity most years and the year I turned 50 I wanted a charity that was local, would benefit children and also where I could really see the effect the money raised was having. I have a colleague who has benefited from the support at CHSW’s Charlton Farm and following a tour of the hospice I could really see that the fantastic work carried out for the whole family of children who stay there.”

The Cantanti Singers and Wind Band, based in Stoke Bishop Bristol, held a concert last month in support of local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). The Choir decided to raise funds for CHSW after visiting its Bristol hospice, Charlton Farm.

The next concert is due to take place on the evening of Saturday October 12 at Westbury Baptist Church

Gareth Dodds, Manager of the Singers, said “We were so impressed when we saw the facilities and how CHSW supports the families. We are delighted to support the charity with our concerts this year.”

Keynsham Chicks continue to support the hospice

A group of ladies from Keynsham have been knitting chicks and selling them in the local area for 21 years.

The Keynsham Chicks, co-ordinated by Margaret Thompson, kindly give the proceeds to the local children’s hospice - Charlton Farm in Wraxall. Once knitted and stuffed with a chocolate eggs, the chicks are sold all over the local area and beyond during Easter.
