Little Lupo Raises £1400 for Little Harbour

Clare and James handover their donation to Alice at Little Harbour

Clare and James Eddy from Bodmin took part in a rally this summer taking their VW Lupo all the way to Monte Carlo and have raised £1400 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) while doing so.

The husband and wife duo started the three day rally in Saint-Quentin in France and then travelled to Dijon, crossing over the Great Saint Bernard pass in Switzerland, down to Turin in Italy and finally arrived in Monte Carlo for the finish line. From door to door they clocked up a total of 2300 miles and also battled with temperatures of over 40 degrees on some days without the comfort of air conditioning. James and Clare proudly hold the Cornish flag in Monte Carlo

They put on a variety of fundraising events, many of which involved food to raise vital funds for Little Harbour. A cake sale along with a sausage roll sale was held at the WPD Bodmin Depot and they organised a summer garden cream tea fundraiser. To get their friends and family involved they sold them stickers for good luck messages to be written on, these were then stuck to the car and travelled the route with them.

Reflecting on the rally and their fundraising Clare and James said

We would like to thank everyone who supported our fundraising events.  The rally was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We had great fun whilst supporting an amazing charity. We are looking forward to the next one!

Alice Merrett, Community Fundraiser for CHSW collected the donation on behalf of the charity and said; “I would really like to thank Clare and James for their fantastic fundraising for Children’s Hospice South West but also for taking the name of the charity all the way to Monte Carlo! We appreciate that taking part in events like this along with the fundraising requires a lot of time and dedication, so we really are grateful for their very generous donation.”

CHSW’s Little Harbour children’s hospice provides children and families with short breaks where the children receive round the clock care, siblings are supported and parents have the chance to recharge their batteries and enjoy special time as a family.
