Carol and Doug Rogers from Norton-Sub-Hamden in Somerset have decided to hang up their fundraising hats after more than two decades volunteering for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

This kind-hearted pair have run Smokestack Country Music Club for the past 21 years in support of CHSW and have raised £165,552.50 during that time.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is inviting you to join them for a weekend of 90s nostalgia!

The charity is celebrating its milestone 30th anniversary this year and asking party-people to join in the awesome celebrations on Friday 17 to Sunday 19 September, by throwing a wicked Back to the 90s Party.

Nine year old Claudia, from Derriford in Plymouth, has had more than 12 inches of her hair cut in support of not one but two special charities.

Claudia had been growing her hair for years and decided that if she was going to have it cut she wanted to donate the hair to Little Princess Trust. The charity provides free, real hair wigs to children and young people, up to the age of 24, who have lost hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

As Claudia also celebrated her 9th birthday during lockdown she decided with her parents that the money that would have been spent on her birthday

Hayle based builders merchants; Cornwall Building Supplies, has recently donated £200 to Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Little Harbour hospice in St Austell after running a ‘Hammer Hold’ competition.

Customers and staff alike got very competitive to see who could hold the hammer for the longest time during the competition which ran over the last few months. With prizes worth £150 up for grabs for the male and female winners, competitors were entering time and time again to try to obtain the longest time. John Barkle from Wells in Somerset has presented local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), with a cheque for £1,528.

The fantastic donation was the result of sales of John’s first book, ‘Memories of a Village Grocer’.

The book recounts John’s days as a young boy in Ditcheat, his years in the shops in Pilton and Wells, his amateur dramatics in Croscombe, to his retirement and beyond. It has been described as ‘beautifully written, full of anecdotes and village characters; a must read for anyone who remembers shopping in Barkles or who loves village life’.

100 cyclists from across the south west, and further afield, recently completed a 205 mile charity cycle raising more than £170,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) making it the biggest fundraising year for the event.

Eight-year-old Bella from Bedminster in Bristol has begun her biggest fundraising challenge yet – a 30-mile walk to mark the 30th anniversary of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Bella, along with mum Caroline began walking part of the Monarch’s Way on July 3. They are planning to hike 5-miles at a time over a period of 3 weeks.

When Bella heard that CHSW was celebrating its 30th anniversary, she wanted to do something big. So, she decided to take a year and try to raise funds through a bunch of activities and challenges

Swashbuckling shanty group, The Pirates of St Piran, have recently donated £1000 to Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell.
The money was raised through their gigs prior to the pandemic as well as sales of the 6 CD’s which they have released.

There are about 20 pirates that make up the crew, which have been performing at various events for over 10 years, performing sea shanties and pirate songs in traditional 18th century clothing. Proceeds from their gigs and sales of their CD’s all go to their three main charities; CHSW, RNLI and Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Two friends recently took on a mammoth cycling challenge riding from Bristol to St Austell in just one day all in the name of raising vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Richard Jones from Perranporth and friend Matt Proom from Bristol set themselves the challenge of cycling the 150 miles from Bristol Children’s Hospital to Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell to raise funds for CHSW in memory of Joel Erents who died aged 10 and was supported by Little Harbour.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) was delighted to receive a cheque for £685 from Clevedon United Junior FC’s recent fundraising event.

The football club held its first ever golf day last month at Mendip Spring Golf Club. Two teams of twelve, representing parents and coaches, battled it out for a claret jug trophy, kindly donated by Brunel Engraving Company.

In glorious conditions, the coaches team came out on top to be the inaugural champions.

Club Chairman, Colston Ridge, presented a cheque for £685 from proceeds of the event to CHSW Area Fundraiser Julie Draper at Charlton Farm.
