Opportunity for families to make memories at Mylor

Families from across Cornwall and Plymouth that are supported by Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell are being invited for free sessions at Mylor Sailing and Powerboat School courtesy of the charity Mylor Sailability.


After receiving funding from Cornwall Community Foundation and Seasalt Clothing Company, Sailability has been able to set up a ‘Good Day Promise’ project offering free sessions for children and their families on their fully accessible powerboat from the end of June onwards.

If you are planning on dining at The Pig near Bath in June, you will notice there is an option to donate to local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) when selecting one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes.


To mark CHSW’s 30th anniversary, The Pig near Bath is asking customers to round up their payment when buying the small cured-meat platter (£9) and large cured-meat platter (£18). This popular staple dish is available on its al-a-carte menu and ties in with the restaurant’s commitment to a 25-mile menu.

Ollie's 45 mile run in memory of baby Phoebe

Ollie Lee from Seaton has set himself the mammoth challenge of running 45 miles across Cornwall, from Padstow to Seaton, in memory of his niece’s daughter Phoebe Hoskin.


Phoebe died in April this year just nine months old after suffering with a complex brain tumour. Phoebe and her parents, Ollie’s niece Jade and fiance Sam, were supported by the team at Little Harbour; the children’s hospice in St Austell run by Children’s Hospice South West. Warren Lodge garden supporting CHSW

Warren Lodge Garden in Mary Tavy near Tavistock will be welcoming people through it’s gates this summer in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


The garden will be open on Sunday 6 June, Sunday 4 July and Sunday 1 August. Bookings are being taken for each day with arrival slots available at 12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm.

Bridgwater manufacturer puts the fun in fundraising

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in Bridgwater has raised £680 for its chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


Members of TSS staff took part in the charity’s Shirty Thirty fundraising campaign, which saw them wearing their loudest and most colourful shirts for a day and donating to the charity. £340 was raised and doubled by the company taking the total to £680. Winners of the best/worst shirt were Dave (Onslow) Kirk and Start Clark.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted to announce it has the support from two local businesses for its upcoming Rainbow Run Your Way event in June.


Sponsorship of the event by Ann’s Cottage; surf and lifestyle fashion retailer, and The Exeter; healthcare insurance company, means that even more of the money raised by those taking part in the Rainbow Run can go straight to the care and support offered to the children and families that use CHSW’s three children’s hospices.

Sophie has the chop for charity

Eight year old Sophie Cocking from Plympton has had a post-lockdown chop like no other after growing her hair for over two years in order to benefit two different charities.


At just five years old Sophie told her parents she would like to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust to enable children who need it to be able to ‘feel like a princess’. Her parents explained it would involve growing it for a long time and then having it cut very short which Sophie was completely on board with, and so the growing began.

Danish Crown, a meat factory in Bugle St Austell, has made a generous donation of meat and hampers to Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean run by Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). The company have supported the charity for many years through various fundraising activities and have recently signed up to the CHSW Business Club.


The donation was delivered straight to the kitchen door at Little Harbour by Mark Hall and Alesha Banfield from Danish Crown.

Amie's skipping helps local children's hospice

Some playground games just don’t get old and 10 year old Amie from Mount Hawke has proven that skipping certainly has not gone out of fashion, and can even be used to raise some serious cash for good causes.


On returning to school after lockdown skipping was a firm favourite with Amie and her friends at Mount Hawke Academy, enjoying the simple pleasures of being reunited with friends and being able to play together.
