Ollie Lee from Seaton has set himself the mammoth challenge of running 45 miles across Cornwall, from Padstow to Seaton, in memory of his niece’s daughter Phoebe Hoskin.

Phoebe died in April this year just nine months old after suffering with a complex brain tumour. Phoebe and her parents, Ollie’s niece Jade and fiance Sam, were supported by the team at Little Harbour; the children’s hospice in St Austell run by Children’s Hospice South West. Ollie set himself this challenge to raise funds for the hospice after all of the support they gave his family and continue to provide Jade and Sam as they come to terms with Phoebe’s death.

On 5 June Ollie will run the Saints Way, tackling a range of terrains along ancient pathways, from Padstow to Fowey and will then continue along the South West Coast Path from Fowey back home to Seaton.

Ollie is a keen runner but this will be the furthest he has ever run in one day and has been training hard for months to get to this point. 

Looking ahead to the challenge Ollie said “I’m looking forward to the run, mainly as I know I’ll have a break from the training afterwards! I feel very honoured to be able to do this on behalf of Phoebe’s Mum and Dad, they are absolute heroes. The support from friends, family and colleagues has been inspiring and I am so pleased that we reached our target of £1000.

Knowing that this money will help in a small way towards the hospice will certainly keep me moving forward…..just hoping it’s a sunny day.

Money raised by Ollie will go to supporting more children with life limiting conditions across Cornwall and Plymouth who need the lifeline care and support offered by Little Harbour children’s hospice.

The hospice provides resilience stays, symptom management, emergency stays, home visits, virtual support, end of life care and bereavement support for the whole family.
