Manaton Garden opens gates in support of CHSW

Manaton garden in Launceston is opening its gates on Sunday 15 May to help raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as part of Birds on Bikes' fundraising for the charity.

The four acres of landscaped spring gardens will be open to explore from 2pm – 5pm giving ample opportunity to take in the shrubs and herbaceous borders, various fruit and acer trees, the vegetable garden, sunken pool area as well as rose beds and woodland sculpture.

Homemade refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon, including cream teas, as well as a children’s wildlife trail, raffle and plant

People are being invited to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by tucking into a cream tea in aid of their local children’s hospice.

The nation will come together over the weekend June 2-5 and Children’s’ Hospice South West (CHSW) is asking supporters to raise a scone in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s honour by taking part in the charity’s Big South West Cream Tea.

Bristol’s Box-E to support Children’s Hospice South West

Box-E has announced it will be supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) during this year’s national Children's Hospice Week.


Run by husband-and-wife team Elliott and Tess Lidstone, Box-E is housed in two converted shipping containers at Whapping Wharf and is one of Bristol’s smallest restaurants. It has been voted best restaurant outside London, according to a readers’ poll in a top food and travel magazine.


The restaurant will be donating 50p to CHSW from every panna cotta sold from Wednesday 23 to Saturday 26 June.

Charity shop has huge prom dress collection for school leavers

Children’s Hospice South West's Honiton charity shop is offering students to chance to be the belle of the ball at their school prom without breaking the bank.

The shop in the High Street currently has around 40 second-hand dresses in stock, with prices starting at just £20.

Manager Lynne Whitehall recently advertised a collection of wedding dresses for sale and hopes that the prom dresses will be just as popular for students on a shoestring.

A Bideford teenager will be racing against the clock next week to complete an emotional origami challenge in memory of a four-year-old girl from the town.

Aria Mitchell, 16, will be attempting to fold 1,000 paper cranes in just 24-hours to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), after hearing about how the charity supported Imogen Smale and her family.

New Cornish clothing brand MegaWhet hopes to raise £20,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) with the launch of their branded t-shirts.

Malcolm Harris, the brainchild of the MegaWhet brand, explains how his new venture will support CHSW;

Football rivals angle for fishing win

Taking place on the weekend of July 22- 24, Bristol City will go up against Bristol Rovers in the annual fishing competition being held at Acorn Fishery in Clevedon.

Bikers hand over £10k to children’s hospice

The Nailsea Bikers have handed over a cheque to their chosen charity, Children's Hospice South West, for a staggering £10,413.


The funds were raised during last year’s incredibly successful Nailsea International Bike Show.


This is the largest amount raised at the event in its entire 11-show history and could not have been achieved without the incredible support received from local and national sponsors, The Grove sports centre, the participating bands and musicians, the Ring O' Bells, and of course the Nailsea Bikers team themselves.

Taunton students collect Easter eggs for children’s hospice

Pupils at Bishop Fox's secondary school in Taunton have been busy gathering chocolate eggs to give to poorly children this Easter.

The Year 10 students organised a school-wide collection of Easter treats for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) after deciding to support the charity, which provides vital support for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families.

They managed to collect 43 eggs in total and presented them to CHSW area fundraiser Mary Gray, who visited the school on Thursday to take them to the Little Bridge House children’s hospice in North Devon.

On Wednesday evening (6 April) Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) held a very special appreciation event at Topping & Company Booksellers thanks to the sponsorship of MiTEQ Solutions.
