Cavanna Homes continues incredible support for children’s hospice

Cavanna Homes has announced that it will continue fundraising for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as its charity of the year until the end of 2023.

The housebuilder has raised nearly £40,000 for CHSW since 2019 and has vowed to keep supporting the charity’s three South West hospices – Little Bridge House in North Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset, and Little Harbour in Cornwall – for a further two years.

Cavanna employees have organised golf days, bake sales, dress-down days, raffles and quizzes, and have cycled hundreds of miles to help the hospices provide vital care for local

The Star Inn in Tickenham has raised £400 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


At the end of 2021 the pub in North Somerset held a raffle, firework display and drag night to raise funds.


The popular family pub is located just a stone’s throw from CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice which provides care and support to children diagnosed with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.


Manager of the Star Inn, Gabby Maddocks, recently presented the funds to CHSW Area Fundraiser, Emma Parker.

Hundreds of Christmas trees recycled across Devon and Somerset for children’s hospice

Hundreds of Christmas trees have been recycled in Devon and Somerset, raising thousands of pounds for Children’s Hospice South West.

The charity joined forces with waste and recycling firm Biffa, as well as volunteers from Dryrobe, to collect trees in Barnstaple, Torquay and Taunton at the weekend.

People were able to book a collection in return for a donation to CHSW. The collection in Taunton was organised in conjunction with St Margaret’s Hospice.

Devon cottage letting company makes New Year donation to children’s hospice

A holiday cottage letting company in Devon has made a New Year donation to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Original Cottages Devon invited customers to make a donation to the charity when booking a stay in the county in 2021.

The £1,200 rasied will enable help provide vital care for local families in 2022.

Brand manager Gemma Davenport visited CHSW’s Little Bridge House hospice in North Devon shortly before Christmas to drop off the money raised, along with presents for the children and family members staying at the hospice.

Heligan Gardens announce support for CHSW

Festive visitors to The Lost Gardens of Heligan have helped raise over £2,500 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), as the iconic gardens opened their gates for its annual charity day on New Year’s Day.

Over the course of the day, Heligan welcomed over 450 visitors to walk off the festive excesses, blow away the cobwebs and enjoy a winter stroll through the historic 200 acre estate with family and friends.

This annual charity day proved to be as popular as ever and saw £2602.08 donated, helping to kickstart CHSW’s year as Heligan’s chosen charity.

New Chippenham business to support the children’s hospice

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted to be linking up with Chippenham-based digital asset tracking, management and mobility solutions provider, MiTEQ.

The partnership kicked-off at the end of last year when MiTEQ’s Will Hamilton-Davies visited CHSW’s local hospice, Charlton Farm in North Somerset.


MiTEQ kindly gifted three Nintendo Switch consoles to the hospice which provides care to children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Will delivered the popular consoles in-person along with cuddly zebra soft toys donated by their partners Zebra Technologies.

Gunner’s homegrown veg and pickled onions are big hit for hospice

A retired shipyard welder from North Devon has raised a remarkable £3,500 selling homegrown produce from a stall outside his home in Appledore.

Les ‘Gunner’ Curtis sells vegetables grown in his back garden to support the charity’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice in nearby Fremington.

His stall in Myrtle Street is a big hit with villagers and holidaymakers. It raised £1,300 in 2020 and last year’s total was boosted by the sale of coffee mugs and photo t-shirts created with the help of fundraiser friend Ray Goldsmith.

North Bristol school chooses CHSW as its charity of the year

Tockington Manor, an independent school in North Bristol, has chosen Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as its charity for this academic year.

The school community really gets behind our annual charities and it is an incredibly important part of school life


The school have been raising awareness at their annual Christmas Fair and kick started their fundraising with a non-uniform day and family fun run. The 255 children at Tockington Manor will learn about the excellent work of CHSW alongside their fundraising activities.

Watercolour workshops launched in support of CHSW

A new series of watercolour workshops for all abilities is open for bookings.


Faulkland Village Hall will host a new series of art workshops giving people the skills to enjoy and explore watercolour painting, in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), from Wednesday 2 March.


David Graham, who sells his own watercolours to raise money for the charity, is inviting people to book onto the course to learn the basic technical skills to paint in watercolour, from mixing paint to getting started with your composition, as well as giving artistic insight and inspiration for people with painting

Auntie’s brave New Year head shave in support of niece Gracie

An auntie and her neighbour will be starting the New Year by losing their locks to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Christine Harper and Carol Bridgeman, from Chard, will be hoping to raise £1,000 by doing a sponsored head shave at The Choughs Hotel on Friday (January 7).

Christine’s niece Gracie has ataxia telangiectasia, a rare inherited disorder that affects the nervous and immune system. Gracie and her family are given respite support by CHSW’s Little Bridge House hospice in Devon.
