Paul's incredible coast path walk in memory of his niece

An outdoor activity instructor from Honiton has walked the entire length of the South West Coast Path in memory of his niece, Lauren.

Paul Boddington, aged 49, completed the rugged 1,014km coastline hike from Minehead to Poole in just 27 days to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

His journey took him past two CHSW hospices – Little Bridge House in North Devon and Little Harbour in Cornwall – and he has raised more than £7,500 for the charity.

Lauren was diagnosed with ‘delayed development’ around the age of one. She suffered from fits and respiratory issues, and Paul said

SPAR stores donate over £5500 to CHSW

SPAR stores across Devon and Cornwall have raised £5544.07 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) through their in-store collection tins over the past year.

Collection tins were put on the cash desk in SPAR stores across Devon and Cornwall and customers have given their spare change generously to the local children’s charity which has three children’s hospices across the region.

Cara Whitting, Finance Assistant for the Gillett’s SPAR stores said: “This is a great amount and we thank all our stores and customers for their continued support of this charity.

College to Raise Money for Children’s Hospice South West

Children’s Hospice South West has been announced as City College Plymouth’s chosen charity for the forthcoming academic year 2019/20.

Every year, students and staff at the College raise thousands of pounds for good causes, including a nominated charity which is the focus for their fundraising efforts. This year, the College has chosen to work with Children’s Hospice South West – a charity committed to caring for children with life-threatening conditions by providing children’s hospice and professional family support services.

Bodybuilding debut is days away for Dawn

Dawn Barnard, 45, from St Blazey has worked as a carer at Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean in St Austell for almost three years. Inspired by the families she works with and friends in the fitness industry Dawn set herself a huge challenge of competing in a bodybuilding competition while raising funds for Little Harbour. Since January she has committed to a strict regime of training and diet all while putting time into her fundraising for Little Harbour as well.

Firewalk coming to Plymouth next month

There is less than one month to go before Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Firewalk at Kitley House Hotel near Plymouth.

Over 65 adrenaline junkies have already signed up to walk across hot coals at the Firewalk, all in the name of raising vital funds for the local children’s charity which runs Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell.

Participants will be facing their fears and pushing their boundaries as they walk along a path of hot coals at temperatures of 1200˚F in front of the beautiful Kitley House Hotel.

The event is taking place on Thursday 7 th November from 6pm and CHSW

Charity donates life changing technology to Little Harbour

Children receiving care at Little Harbour in St Austell have received a donation of life-changing technology worth thousands of pounds from children’s charity Lifelites.

Many of the children using the services at Little Harbour have complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions, but the specialist technology which Lifelites has donated can give them the opportunity to do things they never dreamed of. It enables them to play, be creative, control something for themselves and communicate, for as long as it is possible.

Victoria Walker, a jeweller based at Princes House in Truro, is delighted to have raised £4368.84 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) from raffling one of her bestselling lockets.

Victoria has been designing and hand making delicate, kinetic jewellery inspired by seed pods and flowers for the past 10 years. Car enthusiasts’ classic fundraising for local children’s hospice

A charity car rally in North Devon has raised £500 for Children’s Hospice South West.

The event on September 1 set off from The New Inn in Fremington and took motorists on a 60-mile loop through Barnstaple, Braunton, Georgeham, Mortehoe and Combe Martin before finishing at Little Bridge House in Fremington.

All ages and makes of car were invited to take part, and all 27 participants were all presented with a rally plaque and finisher’s trophy.

Staff from Barnstaple engineering firm saddle up for children’s hospice

A team of amateur cyclists from TT Electronics in Barnstaple has handed over a huge fundraising cheque to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Six members of the Roundswell-based engineering firm have been pounding the pedals this year to raise £6,301.52 for the charity’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Fremington.

They spent many months training and fundraising before taking part in July’s annual Ride for Precious Lives cycle challenge, a 205-mile three-day ride that called in at CHSW’s three children’s hospices in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.
