Darren and Sharon Davies and their son Josh have left a phenomenal legacy to their much-loved son and brother, Harry. ‘Raise a Smile for Harry’ has raised over £50k for the local children’s hospice which supported them through the darkest times of their lives.

Harry Davies was born on 12 January 2004. Aged three and a half he was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer in his lower arm. Sadly Harry died at Charlton Farm on 16 July 2011 and was laid in a special room at the hospice called Starborn. The family stayed at Charlton Farm and were given help organising the funeral.

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons Devonshire has made a £10,000 donation to Children’s Hospice South West.

The money to fund a new medical emergency equipment store at the charity’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice near Barnstaple in North Devon was raised through the Devon Mark Charity Association’s 2022 Project, a celebration of the centenary of the association.

The new store will enable care staff to store specialist equipment for children with a range of complex care needs, meaning families will not need to bring all their equipment when they come to stay.

Friends and supporters of Children’s Hospice South West gathered together in December to celebrate a year of great fundraising for Charlton Farm children’s hospice. Pantomime audiences in Barnstaple have raised nearly £10,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Bucket collections were held after each performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Queen’s Theatre, from December 13 to January 5.

Cast members, who also visited the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice in Fremington to entertain children in the run-up to Christmas, encouraged panto-goers to make a donation after each show throughout the festive period.

The winning tickets in this year’s Children’s Hospice South West Christmas Raffle have been drawn at Little Bridge House today (December 20).

The lucky tickets were drawn by 18-year-old Grace Hannaford from Topsham, who is staying at the hospice this week with grandparents Loretta and Colin.

The top prize of £2,500 went to a lucky supporter from Northam, near Bideford. The £500 second prize was won by one of our supporters in Plymouth, and the third prize of £100 went to a player in Helston, Cornwall. The winners have all been notified.

Children’s Hospice South West's Charlton Farm gave a warm welcome to Bristol City players and staff for their Christmas visit.

The squad’s trip to Charlton Farm is the annual highlight of the long-standing relationship between the Robins and CHSW, which provides the highest level of care, clinical expertise and enrichment opportunities for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

From decorating biscuits to colouring, playing table football and FIFA, the Robins and young people shared the Christmas spirit of Charlton Farm.

Stagecoach South West brought Christmas cheer to children this week when its Santa bus visited Children’s Hospice South West in North Devon.

Gary the Rabbit and the Stagecoach elves visited the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple to hand out festive treats including goody bags and art and craft supplies for the sensory playroom.

Little Bridge House provides respite, palliative, end-of-life and bereavement support for nearly 200 children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Parents can take a break from being primary carers for a few days and brothers and sisters

Around 300 people packed into Bideford Pannier Market on Saturday night to join a special Light Up a Life service in aid of Children’s Hospice South West and North Devon Hospice.

The candlelit service, one of 17 services taking place throughout North and Mid-Devon for this year’s appeal, gave people the chance to remember a loved one and to make donation to the two charities in their memory.

Led by St Mary’s Church team rector, The Reverend Claire Rose-Casemore, the service also featured performances by the Westward Ho! Youth Theatre, St Mary’s School choir and the Bideford Town Band.

A convoy of around 40 motorbiking Santas brought Christmas cheer to children and families being supported by Children’s Hospice South West in North Devon on Saturday morning.

Riders donned their best festive threads and decorated their bikes with plenty of tinsel and baubles to make the 50-mile road trip from Taunton to the Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Fremington.
