Robins Charlton Farm Christmas visit
Children’s Hospice South West's Charlton Farm gave a warm welcome to Bristol City players and staff for their Christmas visit.
The squad’s trip to Charlton Farm is the annual highlight of the long-standing relationship between the Robins and CHSW, which provides the highest level of care, clinical expertise and enrichment opportunities for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
From decorating biscuits to colouring, playing table football and FIFA, the Robins and young people shared the Christmas spirit of Charlton Farm.
Helen Rogers, Acting Head of Care at Children’s Hospice South West Charlton Farm, said: “It’s fantastic to see the players and the youngsters interacting and the visit means so much to everyone here. It will add to the precious memories for these families.
“I’d really like to thank Bristol City, not just for today but for their support throughout the year, from providing tickets to games through to fund-raising through the recent Firewalk and the proceeds from the auction for the signed Ronaldo shirt.
“It costs £10m to run the three hospices in the South West and every penny goes into creating special times for these young people and their families.”
City Head Coach Lee Johnson said: “It’s a brilliant day and amazing to see the kids and the families and the staff. The players enjoy it too because we feel that love towards the charity. I know at all level of the games how much footballers do in their capacity as role models and to make these amazing moments for the children.
“In one sense I expect it from the group because it means something to them and they are unbelievable lads that go beyond the call of duty for charitable causes and community.”
