Rick Stein's Swap Seafood for Cider Run

A team of 5 from Rick Stein’s St Petroc’s Bistro in Padstow recently took part in the Cornish Cider Run and have raised £727.50 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) through doing so.

The Rick Stein’s team have been supporting CHSW with various fundraising events and the Boconnoc Cornish Cider Run was the chosen fundraising event that Samantha Bolwell, Susie Esor, Larissa Porter, Jamie Porter & Ash Gains wanted to take part in to do their bit for the charity.

The team took part in the 10k course of mud, water and over 30 obstacles on 16 September and completed the challenge together.

Bristol athletes raise over £12k

Back in May three local men with an interest in fitness took part in an ultratriathlon in Bristol to raise funds for Charlton Farm, which is celebrating its 10 th Birthday this year.

Named ‘The Bristol Brutal’, the originator, Paul Dennett from Emersons Green said,

I wanted to do something to help Charlton Farm as it is a very special place which supported my friend Jim whose son Jack died at the hospice.

Along with his friends, Marc Thomas and Phill Edwards from Bradley Stoke, Paul covered 320 miles over 3 days on foot and by bike. Day 1 consisted of a 6.2 mile swim and 90 mile cycle. Day 2

Hundreds of Santas on Bikes set to visit hospice

It’s become a much-loved festive tradition; hundreds of bikers dressed in Santa suits, their motorbikes adorned with festive paraphernalia, paying a visit to Children’s Hospice South West’s Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple. This year the ride is taking place on Saturday 2 December, with bikers coming from all over the county.

It’s quite a spectacle watching the procession of motorbikes leaving Seven Brethren Bank, making its way through Barnstaple then onto Fremington for 1.00pm, and organiser, Carl Trick said:

Hildy’s Hospice Hike sets off from Little Bridge House Somerset County Cricketer, James Hildreth and fellow hikers Adam Dibble, Ross Ward and Mark Turner, set off today (Wednesday 18 October) on their epic ‘Hildy’s Hospice Hike’ challenge - all to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). James and his team set off from the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice, on their way hiking to CHSW’s Little Harbour hospice in Cornwall via the South West Coast Path. Ocean Housing Group Sponsor Santas on the Run

St Austell based Ocean Housing Group has generously offered sponsorship once again to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) for the charity’s upcoming Santas on the Run event.

The 2km sponsored fun run is happening at the Eden Project on 3 December and is a fun event to take part in with colleagues, friends or family of all ages, helping to get everyone into the festive spirit.

Sponsorship from the Ocean Housing Group helps towards covering the costs of the event meaning that even more of the money raised in sponsorship by those taking part can go straight to Little Harbour children’s hospice

A decade of fundraising for Charlton Farm

The Mendip Friends’ Group has been supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) for well over a decade and was deeply involved in the Babe Appeal – the campaign to raise funds to build CHSW’s Charlton Farm children’s hospice in North Somerset.

Children’s Hospice Thank West Cornwall Youth Trust

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) have recently thanked West Cornwall Youth Trust (WCYT) for their generous donation of £2000 to the charity.

This grant will go towards funding a residential trip for siblings of children who are cared for by the charity at its Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell. The trip will give siblings, many of whom are also young carers for their brothers or sisters, the chance to take part in a range of activities to build confidence, develop skills, make friends and share experiences.

Some of the funding will also go towards day trips for the children

Teenager’s head shave for local children’s hospice

On Saturday 4 November, Alex age 13, will be shaving off his beloved thick bushy hair to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as his family is supported by its Charlton Farm hospice in North Somerset.

Alex’s sister Josselin, age 11, has CHARGE syndrome and is deafblind, unable to walk or talk and reliant on 24/7 care for all her needs. She has an airway obstruction and uses CPAP ventilation overnight and is unable to eat or drink so is fed through a gastrostomy tube. She has a severe learning difficulty, scoliosis and weak bones.

KFC’s Add Hope makes substantial donation to CHSW

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted to receive £111,199 from KFC’s Add Hope Foundation. The Add Hope Foundation enables each KFC restaurant to support a local children’s charity, with 100% of funds raised going directly to the charity. Money is raised through product promotions (it donates 10p from every Kids’ Meal), scratch cards, donation boxes or through customers donating via their Colonel’s Club loyalty cards. Dad walks for precious lives

Kevin Bresnan from Midsomer Norton took on a challenge to walk 50 miles non-stop from Weymouth to Wells. Kevin was inspired to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West’s Charlton Farm as it provides respite stays for him and his son Caleb who has a life-limiting condition called Alagille Syndrome.

The whole family is able to come at stay at Charlton Farm, not just Caleb, for short breaks throughout the year. Kevin wanted to set himself a challenge to raise funds for the hospice as a way of saying thank you for the support he and his family receives.
