The Exeter office of private and commercial bank, Arbuthnot Latham will be supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as its charity of the year for 2020 and 2021.

The team, based in Southernhay Gardens, said they were looking forward to working with CHSW and had a number of fundraising events planned, including a business breakfast, local gin and wine tasting evenings, and a quiz night.

Throughout the year Grosvenor staff members held countless company-wide events with some taking part CHSW’s own events including the 5k Rainbow Run as well as the gruelling 205-mile cycle challenge, Ride for Precious Lives. Several of the team were brave enough to take part in a skydive, whilst one accomplished his first marathon. A concert by the Devon Philharmonic Orchestra at Exeter Cathedral has raised £756.65 for Children’s Hospice South West.

The orchestra, formerly known as the EMG Symphony Orchestra, held a collection during the performance on November 2.

Audiences enjoyed an evening of classical music in the majestic surrounds of the cathedral, with conductor, Leo Geyer and soloist, Philippa Mo.

The performance featured Ligeti’s ‘Lontano’, Dvorak’s Violin Concerto and Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) opened a new shop at Unit 2 Townsend Road on 14 th February at 10am.

The ribbon was cut by CHSW’s Director of Finance, Jonathan Webber. Also in attendance were the Retail Area Manager, Rhian Timms, and CHSW’s Head of Retail, Chris Judd. The youngest customers were from First Steps Nursery in the town who enjoyed being part of the opening and exploring the children’s section of the store!

The shop is open 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday and stocks a wide variety of good quality pre-loved items including, ladies’ clothing, shoes

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is challenging people to take to the coast path this spring for an ‘incredible’ new fundraising event for local families.

The charity’s 10-mile sponsored Incredible Hike from Morwenstow to Hartland Quay takes place on Sunday, April 26.

Walkers will be fuelled by Cornish and Devon cream teas at checkpoints in both counties, and rewarded with medals at a finish line barbecue, as well as breath-taking views throughout.

Children’s Hospice South West is calling on businesses to go head-to-head and take on its £50 Challenge this spring.

The charity is giving workplace teams an initial £50 and tasking them to see how much money they can raise in just 50 working days, from March 2 to May 13.

Around 60 teams took part in last autumn’s £50 Challenge, raising more than £20,000 for the charity, which supports more than 500 children with life-limiting conditions and their families across the South West.

Saturday 21 March is the date set for Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) annual Moonlight Memory Walk.

This special event is returning to the town for the 11 th year and will once again see men and women walk the 5 mile circular route around the town of Falmouth. Walkers will be taking part in memory of their loved ones while also raising sponsorship to support the vital care CHSW offers to local children and their families at its Little Harbour hospice in St Austell.

Last year the event saw 300 people take part and it raised over £20,000 for CHSW.

The games room at North Devon’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice has been given a major re-vamp thanks to a £36,362 donation by the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons.

Pupils at Trinity Church of England School in Acton Turville spent Christmas fundraising for their local children’s hospice, Charlton Farm in North Somerset.

After completing the London Marathon last year and raising over £46,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) Fred Thomas, AKA Skinners Brewery mascot Betty Stogs, is now in full training for Ride for Precious Lives.

Ride for Precious Lives is an annual, sponsored cycling event put on by CHSW which is now in its 12 th year and usually sees around 75 cyclists take on the challenge. The cycle covers three counties in three days stopping off at three children’s hospices over the 205 miles.
