Challenge events help to raise over £9000 for CHSW

Organisers of the Croyde Ocean Triathlon and Exmoor Open Water Swim were delighted to present Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) with a cheque for £9634.47 raised from participants of the 2017 events.

Stephanie's Steps Lead to Super Donation for CHSW

Stephanie Chapman from Perranporth has taken on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge as well as the London Walking Marathon all to help raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Stephanie completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge over the 1 – 3 September and then just three weeks later on 23 September completed the London Marathon Walk, 26.2 miles around the capital city whilst also managing to raise £3490 for CHSW.

After choosing to support CHSW with these challenges Stephanie decided that her main fundraising income would come from making and baking home cooked meals for the local

Truscotts helps to deliver Santa in a Van

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) would like to thank Truscotts of Barnstaple for donating the use of a van for its Santas on the Run events in the area this December.

Santas on the Run is an event for the whole family and the charity has runs in Bideford, Holsworthy and Tiverton. Jayne Jarrett, events fundraiser for CHSW said:

‘This is such a kind donation, we have so much that we need to carry to these events – including several hundred Santa suits! – and the van will be such a help to our team.’

Rick Stein's Swap Seafood for Cider Run

A team of 5 from Rick Stein’s St Petroc’s Bistro in Padstow recently took part in the Cornish Cider Run and have raised £727.50 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) through doing so.

The Rick Stein’s team have been supporting CHSW with various fundraising events and the Boconnoc Cornish Cider Run was the chosen fundraising event that Samantha Bolwell, Susie Esor, Larissa Porter, Jamie Porter & Ash Gains wanted to take part in to do their bit for the charity.

The team took part in the 10k course of mud, water and over 30 obstacles on 16 September and completed the challenge together.

New CHSW shop opens in Yate

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is excited to announce it has opened a new shop in East Walk, Yate on Wednesday 8 th November

The new shop has something for everyone with a range of goods on offer, including quality women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories, as well as children’s toys and games, books, media and bric-a-brac.

Bristol athletes raise over £12k

Back in May three local men with an interest in fitness took part in an ultratriathlon in Bristol to raise funds for Charlton Farm, which is celebrating its 10 th Birthday this year.

Named ‘The Bristol Brutal’, the originator, Paul Dennett from Emersons Green said,

I wanted to do something to help Charlton Farm as it is a very special place which supported my friend Jim whose son Jack died at the hospice.

Along with his friends, Marc Thomas and Phill Edwards from Bradley Stoke, Paul covered 320 miles over 3 days on foot and by bike. Day 1 consisted of a 6.2 mile swim and 90 mile cycle. Day 2

Hundreds of Santas on Bikes set to visit hospice

It’s become a much-loved festive tradition; hundreds of bikers dressed in Santa suits, their motorbikes adorned with festive paraphernalia, paying a visit to Children’s Hospice South West’s Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple. This year the ride is taking place on Saturday 2 December, with bikers coming from all over the county.

It’s quite a spectacle watching the procession of motorbikes leaving Seven Brethren Bank, making its way through Barnstaple then onto Fremington for 1.00pm, and organiser, Carl Trick said:

Hildy’s Hospice Hike sets off from Little Bridge House Somerset County Cricketer, James Hildreth and fellow hikers Adam Dibble, Ross Ward and Mark Turner, set off today (Wednesday 18 October) on their epic ‘Hildy’s Hospice Hike’ challenge - all to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). James and his team set off from the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice, on their way hiking to CHSW’s Little Harbour hospice in Cornwall via the South West Coast Path. The team will be camping along the way and hope to complete the 130 mile journey by Saturday. James Hildreth

Ocean Housing Group Sponsor Santas on the Run

St Austell based Ocean Housing Group has generously offered sponsorship once again to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) for the charity’s upcoming Santas on the Run event.

The 2km sponsored fun run is happening at the Eden Project on 3 December and is a fun event to take part in with colleagues, friends or family of all ages, helping to get everyone into the festive spirit.

Sponsorship from the Ocean Housing Group helps towards covering the costs of the event meaning that even more of the money raised in sponsorship by those taking part can go straight to Little Harbour children’s hospice

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is excited to announce it will be opening a new shop in The Cornmarket in Warminster on Wednesday 18 October at 10.00am. Anyone is welcome to come along and be one of the first customers to step inside!

The new shop will have something for everyone with a range of goods on offer, including quality women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories, as well as children’s toys and games, books, media and bric-a-brac.
