A South Gloucestershire shopping and leisure centre brought festive joy to families supported by Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and raised vital funds for the local children’s hospice, Charlton Farm.


The Mall at Cribbs Causeway is a firm favourite with out-of-town shoppers and over the Christmas period it comes into its own with lots of seasonal activities for families to enjoy.


Last Christmas the centre teamed up with CHSW to offer families free visits to its Grotto and ice-skating sessions.

In a year when the country continued to be in and out of lockdowns, Cornwall was filling up fast with visitors and the power of charitable giving which grew so greatly in 2020 was starting to dwindle as people got their lives back, there was one person who stayed steadfast to their target throughout: Fred Thomas AKA Skinners Brewery mascot Betty Stogs.

Year 8 student completes Everest Challenge

Year 8 Gordano School student, Cian Redman, set his sights high by climbing thousands of metres to raise money for Children's Hospice South West (CHSW).


Cian set himself a challenge to climb the hight of Mount Everest back in November and after 3 months has achieved his mission by climbing a total of 8,849 metres. Along the way he has been supported by friends, family, and members of his rugby team - Gordano Sharks u13s.

Arthur sharing stories and photos from travels

Porthleven-based Arthur Roberts is travelling around Cornwall telling tales of his travels and showcasing his photography while also raising vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Following various trips to, and exploring around, Norway to photograph birds, other wildlife and the countryside in general, Arthur is now keen to share his stories and photographs to local groups looking for a speaker for upcoming meetings or gatherings.

Arthur has supported CHSW for many years after visiting its Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell and will donate any fees from his talks

The Great Charity Pot and Print Fair

The Great Charity Pot and Print Fair is a national online fundraising event which has been created to raise much needed funds for many different local charities.

It's a chance for talented UK ceramicists and printmakers to come together to sell their work to raise money for their chosen charity. The 1st event in January 2021 saw 100 potters joining together to raise £17,800 for 60 different charities.

Colourful Rainbow Runs return this summer

One of the UK’s most colourful fundraising fun runs; Rainbow Run is returning to Cornwall and Devon this summer.

Rainbow Run Cornwall is returning to RAF St Mawgan near Newquay on June 18 and Rainbow Run Devon will be at a new venue; Escot Park in Devon on 19 June. The event is returning this summer after a two-year break due to the pandemic, and early-bird tickets are on sale now with a 25 per cent discount.

Anyone over the age of five can take part and participants will get covered in powder paint as they walk, jog or run through different coloured paint stations along the 5km route.

Creative agency pledges support to CHSW

Wreel Collective, a new innovative business based in Portishead, has pledged to support Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


Its Founder, Mike Etheridge and Operations Director, Lydia Eastwood, were motivated to help the local charity after seeing an advert about its work with children with life limiting conditions and their families.

Raising weights and money for children's hospice

Members of Snap Fitness gym in St Austell have raised over £200 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) with a recent power lifting competition.

The event was held on 29 January with around 20 competitors, each making a donation to take part in any, or all, of the three categories with many achieving personal bests.

Scrap metal leads to heaps of donations for children’s hospice

A small idea that came about 10 years ago from Peter Sweet from St Austell has turned into some serious income for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and its Little Harbour hospice at Porthpean.

Peter, 82, has raised over £44,800 since 2010 for the children’s hospice including £8700 last year.

Peter does daily and weekly collections of scrap metal from homes and businesses around St Austell and the local area. He then delivers the scrap to Henry Orchard & Sons scrap merchants where it is processed, at the end of each year Peter then donates all the money made from the scrap to Little
