Members of Snap Fitness gym in St Austell have raised over £200 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) with a recent power lifting competition.

The event was held on 29 January with around 20 competitors, each making a donation to take part in any, or all, of the three categories with many achieving personal bests.

Ivy-Rose has a rare genetic condition called Phelan-Mcdermid syndrome and was diagnosed when she was six months old. Ivy-Rose is also registered blind, tube fed, has epilepsy and has been supported by Little Harbour since she was 18 months old.

Andrew explains “Little Harbour is like our extended family, they have supported us a tremendous amount before and during covid, offered us stays, care at home, help with shopping during covid even jacuzzi and lunch afternoons.”

Little Harbour not only supports Ivy-Rose but also her brother Harvi, mum Inez and dad Andrew.

“We are so grateful for all of the support and love that we receive from Little Harbour” says Andrew.

We feel as though that’s the only place really that we feel at ease leaving Ivy-Rose due to all staff having necessary training and experience in all areas needed to provide the best care.

£230.71 was raised from the power lifting competition which will help children like Ivy-Rose get expert care and support from Little Harbour.

Thanks go to all the team at Snap Fitness for being so accommodating but in particular Emma Tilsley and Jack Freeman for organising and coordinating the event, Matt Fealey for judging, Ross for being the plate loader. Also thanks to Andrew and Inez Wheeler for being an important part of the day, Barnecutts bakery and Cornwall screen print and embroidery.”
