6-year old Romani raises over £500!

A six-year old girl from Weston has raised over £500 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Romani Holland, who goes to Haywood Village Academy school in Weston, said she was inspired to raise money for the hospice “because I don’t like that the children are poorly, and I want to help them feel better.” She raised the funds by being sponsored to have her long hair cut, and in the process, benefitted two charities, CHSW’s Charlton Farm and The Princess Trust.

The annual Santas on the Run 2k fun run is taking place in Bristol on Sunday, December 9. It’s the biggest and most spectacular festive charity event, which attracts thousands of people from the city and beyond, of all ages and abilities.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) arrested, charged and put on trial nine professionals in Bristol on Thursday 25th October in a popular charity event known as Jail & Bail.

Baby Rupert Will Lead Santas on the Run at Eden

Rupert Connor-Latus will be just 9 weeks old on Sunday 9 th December when he will be Santa number 1 at Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Santas on the Run event at the Eden Project.

Santas on the Run is a 2km sponsored festive fun run which Rupert’s mum Sammy was keen to get him signed up for before he was even born along with siblings Flynn, Robyn and Evelyn.

Barnstaple engineering firm takes up the fundraising challenge for children’s hospice

Staff at Aero Stanrew in Barnstaple have raised nearly £9,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Nine teams at the engineering firm at Roundswell, a division of TT Electronics, were challenged to take part in a month of fundraising in August.

Efforts included a Mexican chilli day, prize draw and cream tea, as well as bucket collections at the North Devon Show, Okehampton show, Hatherleigh show, at Tesco Barnstaple, Asda Bideford and after each show at Circus Wonderland in Barnstaple.

Staff also donated ‘fines’ from a swear box and with matched company funding, the teams raised a total of £8712

Mums take on Tough Mudder

Along with her 'Muddy Buddies' Di Paradise-Kersey, Christine Parks, Ruth Bale and Sharon Crossley-Anderson, Michelle Chambers from Swindon took on the challenge of the Tough Mudder in Badminton on Sunday 19th August to raise money for Children's Hospice South West (CHSW).

Michelle said, “Being mothers of small children ourselves, we wanted to choose a charity that supported young children and families, that was local to us so that we can see how the money raised makes a difference.”

The challenge was no mean feat for Michelle who was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2016.

Instow marines put the fun in fundraising for children’s hospice

Royal Marines based at Instow have raised more than £500 by holding a family day for Children’s Hospice South West.

The 11 Amphibious Trails and Training Squadron opened the doors of the Arromanches Camp in July, giving family and friends the chance to enjoy a range of activities on the North Devon base, which carries out training and trialling for landing craft operations.

Visitors were able to test their aim on a shooting range and see some of the landing craft and beach recovery vehicles up close. There was a cake sale, fairground rides and raffle, with donated prizes including a television

Karen Goodman, Cook at Little Harbour children’s hospice, recently embarked on a challenge like no other when she took to the skies strapped to a plane and completed a sponsored wing walk and smashed her target by raising over £2000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Marcus Completes 'Trestimonial' Bike Ride for CHSW

Cricketing legend Marcus Trescothick battled the elements during a five-day ‘Trestimonial’ cycle ride across the South West in aid Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The Somerset County Cricket Club batsman and former England star is used to facing storms at the wicket, but heavy rain and 60mph winds threatened to blow the star’s 324-mile ride off course as Storm Callum swept across the region on Friday.

Joined by around 30 cyclists over the five days, the 2005 Ashes winner set off from his boyhood cricket club of Keynsham in Bristol under blue skies on October 8.

Tattoo Marathon Raises Over £400

Staff from Full Moon Tattoo in Ham Green, Plymouth are recovering from a 3 day tattoo marathon recently which has led to a generous donation to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The popular tattoo designers spent three 12 hour days tattooing the public with a £3 donation from each tattoo being collected to give to CHSW. Over the three days staff also dressed up as Gnomes which encouraged further donations as did the sale of homemade cupcakes from one of their customers.

£403.20p was raised over the weekend which the staff as well as the charity are delighted with.
