Glitzy evening at golf club raises thousands for children’s hospice

A black-tie fundraising event at Teignmouth Golf Club has raised £4,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

More than 100 guests attended The Smarter Ball on Friday 23 September, enjoying a glitzy evening of fundraising and entertainment hosted by compare and comedian, Tank Sherman.

The event also featured an exclusive live performance by X-Factor contestant Shelley Smith, followed by a Future Media DJ on the decks, as well as a charity auction with prizes from Laura Wall, Gidleigh Park, Kenton Vinyard, Devon Sea Safari, Teignmouth and Dawlish Warren Golf Clubs. Local homebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter has donated £2,500 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), as part of the leading housing developer’s Community Fund initiative, and their wish to spread Christmas cheer.

The Barratt Developments Community Fund initiative looks to support causes that have a positive impact within their local communities. For 30 years, CHSW has been providing crucial care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Recycle your Christmas tree and raise money for children’s hospice

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is offering a Christmas tree recycling service for some households in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

Last Christmas, ‘treecyclers’ raised more than £5k to help provide vital care for local families. This year, the charity is collecting real trees in even more locations in return for a donation.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) has been boosted by a contribution from Bloor Homes.

The housebuilder’s Exeter region Managing Director Bradley Davison visited the charity’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice near Barnstaple to present the donation, along with chocolates and selection boxes for children staying at the hospice.

Colin’s tribute to The Queen raises thousands for children’s hospice

An illustration of Her Late Majesty the Queen buying a Hocking’s ice cream at Westward Ho! has raised an incredible £4,260 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

North Devon artist and cartoonist Colin Petty said he was inspired to create his tribute entitled ‘One Last One’ after seeing an image of The Queen and Paddington Bear after her death in September.

He’s since sold hundreds of prints with the help of Daniel Dalley from Bideford company OICY Gifts and Prints, which printed them for free, with all the money going to CHSW.

Motorbiking Santas to hit the road for children’s hospice this December

Hundreds of motorbiking Santas will be jumping in the saddle all over the South West to raise festive cheer in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) this December.

The annual Santas on a Bike ride-outs to CHSW’s children’s hospices in Bristol and St Austell are taking place on December 3, while the ride to the charity’s Devon hospice takes place on December 10.

The ride to Little Harbour in St Austell starts at Lee Mill Industrial Estate in Ivybridge at 12.15pm and will call in at Ivybridge (12.30pm); Saltash (1pm); Liskeard (2pm); and St Austell (3pm) on route to the hospice.

North Devon’s two hospice charities are inviting people to come together to light a candle in memory of loved ones this Christmas.

For more than a quarter-of-a-century, the annual Light Up a Life appeal has shone brightly in communities across the region at a series of special church services, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds to provide vital care for local families at North Devon Hospice (NDH) in Barnstaple, and Children’s Hospice South West in Fremington.

Homebuilder’s annual golf day drives fundraising total to new heights for children’s hospice

Devon-based homebuilder Cavanna Homes successfully doubled last year’s fundraising total at its recent charity golf day for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Employees, contractors and suppliers took to the green at Woodbury Park, Exeter to compete in an 18-hole round and a ‘Beat the Pro Challenge’ in support of the firm’s charity of the year.

The competition was followed by a barbeque and evening auction to raise funds for the charity, which provides essential hospice care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

A total of £9,806 was raised from ticket sales

Children’s Hospice South West is looking for local companies to join an exclusive business networking club in 2023.

The charity, which runs children’s hospices in Devon, Cornwall and Bristol, launched its Business Club initiative in 2021 as a way for companies to connect during the pandemic. Since then, more than 100 members have joined forces to share ideas and raise awareness of their business at special networking events, while helping to provide vital hospice care for hundreds of local children and their families.

Fisherman's Friends hold a concert for Little Harbour

The Fisherman’s Friends, a shanty singing group of Cornish fisherman, staged a very special concert at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro on Saturday the 5th of November.

The concert was to benefit Children’s Hospice South Wests’ (CHSW) Little Harbour hospice in St Austell, and was also in memory of Seth Dickenson, a devoted young fan of the band who sadly passed away in May 2021 aged just seven.
