Motorbiking Santas will be raising Christmas cheers at Children’s Hospice South West this December

Hundreds of motorbiking Santas will be jumping in the saddle all over the South West to raise festive cheer in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) this December.

The annual Santas on a Bike ride-outs to CHSW’s children’s hospices in Bristol and St Austell are taking place on December 3, while the ride to the charity’s Devon hospice takes place on December 10.Motorbiking Santas will be raising Christmas cheers at Children’s Hospice South West this December

The ride to Little Harbour in St Austell starts at Lee Mill Industrial Estate in Ivybridge at 12.15pm and will call in at Ivybridge (12.30pm); Saltash (1pm); Liskeard (2pm); and St Austell (3pm) on route to the hospice.

Meanwhile, the ride to Charlton Farm in Wraxall will set off from Winterbourne Academy at 12.30pm, and will go through the city centre on route to the hospice, arriving at around 2.15pm.

The ride to Little Bridge House near Barnstaple the following weekend starts at Taunton Asda at 9.15am and will stop off in South Molton at around 10.40am, on route to the hospice in Fremington at 1.30pm.

The annual Santas on Bike fundraiser has raised thousands of pounds for CHSW over the years, as well as bringing smiles to the faces of people who line the various routes to watch them.

Organisers said: “We’re expecting hundreds of Santas, snowmen, elves and reindeer riding bikes covered in festive decorations.

Please spread the word, invite your friends and support your local children’s hospice – let’s make this the biggest and best year ever.

“All bikes, trikes and quads are welcome, and the ride is fully L-plate friendly. Don’t worry if you’ve not attended a group ride before, you’ll be made very welcome. The route will be fully marshalled so you won't get lost.

“The ride takes place entirely on open public roads so all bikes should be road legal and all normal road rules apply.”
