Private family investment group, The Goonvean Group has recently announced that it's going to extend its 2 year partnership supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) for an additional 3 years. The group aims to raise £100,000 over the 5 year partnership period and has recently presented the charity with a cheque for £43,542 raised to date.

The announcement was made by Goonvean Group Managing Director Matthew Gazzard at their Goonvean Summer Games fundraiser at Cullompton Cricket Club; an annual event held for staff from all of the Group’s businesses.

Ride for Precious Lives is the charity’s 3 day cycling challenge which sees cyclists take on 200 miles of challenging, yet stunning, terrain through the heart of the South West, which raised a record-breaking £349,000 this year.

A community Casino Night in Plymouth has raised more than £5,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The event, held on Saturday 11 October, brought together 150 guests at the Future Inn for an evening of fun and fundraising. It was organised by local mums Bex, Ruth and Kerry, who all use the services of CHSW’s Little Harbour hospice in St Austell.

The night featured classic casino games including blackjack, poker and roulette, all played with chips, not cash, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere.

Anne Skinner, from Worle in Weston-Super-Mare, never imagined that her regular donation to her local children’s hospice could lead to such a big win.

One afternoon, she picked up a phone call she’ll never forget.

The Kenwith Castle care home team enabled a resident to re-visit the children’s hospice she helped to found more than 30 years ago.

Eldey spoke to the care home team about her wish to go back to Little Bridge House with her husband Trevor. The facility in Barnstaple, which is operated by Children’s Hospice South West, provides hospice care and support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Gill Brown has been named Regional Pride of Britain Fundraiser 2025, following her extraordinary fundraising efforts which have seen her raise nearly £500,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Gill received the honour on Friday, 19 September, and will now go on to the national finals of the Pride of Britain Awards in October, proudly representing the West Country.
