11 New Mental Health First Aiders Supporting Torbay’s Wellbeing
On Friday 10th April 2026, eleven individuals from across Torbay successfully completed their Ofqual regulated Level 2 FAA First Aid for Mental Health qualification - another fantastic step forward for community wellbeing.
This training was generously funded by Active Devon and delivered by Liz Day of Collectively Diverse, bringing together a group of passionate professionals committed to supporting mental health through their work.
Seven attendees were from Healthscape, alongside four other physical activity providers — all working in partnership with Active Devon to use movement and connection as powerful tools to support mental wellbeing in the community.
The day was kindly hosted by The Imperial Hotel, where the stunning sea views provided a calm and reflective backdrop. This setting proved invaluable, offering moments of pause and grounding while exploring some deeply important and, at times, challenging topics.
As well as building knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to support others, the group also contributed to a wider cause. Through Collectively Diverse’s commitment to giving back, the training raised £600 for Children's Hospice South West, supporting their incredible work with children and families.
This is what meaningful, joined-up impact looks like — investment in people, collaboration across sectors, and a shared commitment to improving mental health through both conversation and action.
A huge well done to everyone involved. Torbay is stronger for it.
