Enjoy a magical cruise along the North Devon coast in aid of children’s hospice

The stunning North Devon coastline will form the backdrop of a brand-new fundraising event for Children’s Hospice South West this summer.

The charity’s inaugural Oldenburg Coastal Cruise takes place on Sunday, August 11 and offers passengers the chance to enjoy breath-taking views of some of England’s highest cliffs, while supporting Devon’s only children’s hospice.

The two-and-a-half-hour cruise sets sail from Ilfracombe Harbour at 2.30pm and will take guests along the Exmoor coast towards Lynmouth and Porlock.

Nerys Daniels from Regil in Chew Valley is organising an evening of celebration on Thursday 25th July to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), which supports her son Toby aged 3.

The event has been fittingly called ‘ We are Family’ because of Nerys’ connection with the hospice and she hopes other families will come and be part of the event. The evening includes a sparkling reception, 3-course meal, music and entertainment and an auction. Taxi firm gears up to support Children's Hospice Week

Portishead-based taxi company, Red7s, is supporting this year’s Children’s Hospice Week by offering journeys within Clevedon in return for a donation to local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Red7s is implementing this fantastic charity initiative from Monday 17 June until Friday 21 June 2019 between 9:30am and 5pm.

Children’s Hospice Week, which takes place from 17-23 June, is the only week in the year dedicated to raising awareness and funds for children’s hospices across the UK.

1000 run the Rainbow in Bristol

The seventh annual Rainbow Run in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) took place at the North Somerset Showground on Saturday 8 June.

1,000 people turned up in their white t-shirts and emerged from the 5k route covered in all colours of the rainbow!

This is the first year the event has been held at the Showground, which is a stone’s throw from CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice in Wraxall.

Charity Cash Raised by College Students

Students from Duchy College in Callington have raised £303.34 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) by taking part in the charity’s £20 Challenge.

A group of students were given £20 as a start-up investment and were tasked to see how much money they could raise from that £20. Having to get their business minds on the task students came up with various fundraising ideas including holding a bake sale, selling milk shakes and also a mega raffle.

Cricketing legend Marcus Trescothick has presented a cheque for more than £18,000 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The Somerset County Cricket Club star and Ashes winner has been an ambassador for CHSW since his benefit year in 2008 and supported the charity during his testimonial year last year.

Dartmouth’s Royal Avenue Gardens will host the ‘biggest ever’ Dartmouth Art & Craft Weekend this month.

The 16 th annual event on June 29-30 will showcase 40 stalls exhibiting a huge variety of arts and crafts, and offer visitors the chance to talk to artists and crafters as they work.

There will be entertainment from a wide range of musical and dance performers, as well as plenty of homemade cakes, cream teas, sandwiches and teas.

Dawn Barnard, 45, from St Blazey has worked as a carer at Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean in St Austell for almost three years. Inspired by the families she works with as well as people she knows through her gym Dawn has set herself a huge challenge of competing in a bodybuilding competition while raising funds for Little Harbour. She has had to commit to a strict regime of training along with a strict diet, all while putting time into her fundraising for Little Harbour as well.

The Cotswold Classic Car Run

The annual 85-mile Cotswold Classic Car Run will be taking place on 1 September 2019 in memory of Roger Cook, a classic car owner and enthusiast and a long-term member of the Classic and Historic Motor Club.

This year’s event, which has a Peaky Blinders theme, begins and ends at Grittleton House in Wiltshire. For those wishing to take part, there will be the opportunity to explore this stunning Grade II listed manor house. Signing on for the Run begins at 9am with a warm welcome and breakfast being served in the orangery overlooking the beautiful gardens at this very special venue.

Cavanna colleagues raise funds for precious lives with pedal power

A trio of cyclists from Cavanna Homes’ head office in Torquay will be riding 205 miles across three counties to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The Ride for Precious Lives cycle challenge (July 12-14) is an annual three-day charity endurance ride between CHSW's three hospices, starting at Little Harbour hospice in St Austell, to Little Bridge House hospice in Barnstaple, finishing at Charlton Farm hospice near Bristol.
