Most referrals come from health or social care professionals, but anyone can refer a child or young person.
At the finish line we will have cleaning stations with soft brushes so that you can give yourself a good dusting off to remove most of the powder. You won’t be 100% clean but you will be able to remove most of the paint.
We recommend that you leave a towel in your car to cover your seat or spare clothes to put on top of your running gear to ensure you get as little paint as possible on your seat.
CHSW cannot be held responsible for any damage or paint getting on participants vehicles, public transport or private property.
Own place refers to a runner obtaining their own place in an event (eg. purchasing your race place directly with the race organisers). And of course we would love you to use your place to run for CHSW.
To claim Gift Aid on your fundraising, we must have the first name or initials, last name, full home address and postcode of each individual donor/sponsor. So please encourage them to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form when they sponsor you. Without these details we legally can't claim Gift Aid - so be strict with your supporters!

We'd suggest a change of clothes and shoes as well as a towel so you can dry down after the event but it does depend how much time you spend in the foam.
Please note there is no bag drop facility at the event so please ensure you can store this in your car, or bring along a cheer squad who can look after them for you.
We welcome referrals from family members whose child has been diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, or professionals. With your families permission we will then contact your professional support team (GP, consultants, key workers etc) to gather up-to-date information about your child's current needs and likely future prognosis. To make a referral please contact us.
You will need to be 18 years at the time of the event to be able to take part.
Unfortunately, we're only a small team and can't get to every event our supporters take part in. If we're attending the event, we'll let you know where we'll be on the day, six weeks before event day. Your friends and family are welcome to join us!

No! Anyone of any age can be registered, even the dog!
Required fitness levels depend on the trip you are taking part in and your current level of fitness. These trips are not targeted at experienced trekkers, so we will have people of all abilities on the event. We do advise that everyone should train for the event, as the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy yourself. We also advise people to go at their own pace on the event – it is not a race, and the idea is to enjoy yourself.
It is not usually commercially viable for most shop teams to collect donations from your home. However, collections can sometimes be arranged locally, so it's worth asking your local shop (contact details can be found on our Shopfinder). Our furniture shops (which you can also find through our Shopfinder) sometimes offer a local collection service.
Members of Hike Support will make a decision each day to ensure conditions are deemed safe to walk. They will consider high winds, torrential rain, thunder high temperatures or any conditions where it is considered too dangerous to continue. We may have to decide to abandon the event for that day. But a little rain won’t stop us!

Your donation is very important to us and we will write to thank you on an annual basis if you have chosen for us to contact you. We may also send you updates on our work if you have indicated that you are happy to receive these. You will know the deduction has started as it will appear on your payslip.
Participants who register are not obliged to raise sponsorship, however this will not qualify you to receive one of our Rainbow Run medals. All rooms are twin/triple share. If you would like to share a room with someone you know, you can enter their name on the registration form. If you don’t indicate your preferred buddy, we will allocate your room with another member of ‘Team Hike’. Women and men who are unknown to each other will not be placed in the same room.
Any money you raise on an online giving platform is automatically transferred to CHSW after the event.
Once all the information available is reviewed, a decision will be made about the appropriateness of hospice care for the child and family. The family and the involved professionals will be informed of this decision without delay. A typical period for completion of this referral process is approximately six weeks. You will leave Rainbow Run looking very colourful, and we recommend a few showers to rinse off the paint. If you have stubborn colours in your hair washing up liquid works a treat to rid the colours. If your hair is very light, or colour treated, you may wish to wear a hat or headscarf to minimise the paint contact.

The ride is designed to offer a challenge to cyclists of all abilities. You will need a good level of fitness in time for the event, each day you will cycle between 60 to 90 miles incorporating several hills. As long as you start training early enough, even new cyclists can take part. Our training plan offers you some ideas to be event ready. You can also download the route and incorporate some of the local sections in your training plan.

The prize fund for each weekly draw is £1,425. This is made up of 14 guaranteed prizes totalling £1,225 and a £200 Bonus Rollover.
The 14 guaranteed weekly prizes are 1st prize: £1,000, 2nd prize £100 and 3rd prizes 2 x £25, 5 x £10, 5 x £5

A tandem skydive is an easy and enjoyable way to experience the thrills of skydiving. Once aboard the aircraft, you will be securely harnessed to your Instructor as you ride up to your chosen altitude. The aircraft takes approximately 10 minutes to climb to 15,000ft, giving you time to take in the views. Once at altitude, you will get the green light for GO!
During freefall, you will experience speeds of approximately 120mph for up to a minute, falling around 2 miles. As the canopy opens, you will be aware of the sudden tranquillity as your speed dramatically decreases. This allows you to talk with your Instructor, take in the expansive scenery during the 5 minute parachute ride, and land safely after helping your Instructor to steer the parachute around the sky before gliding back to the airfield.
Our volunteering opportunities don't require a formal interview. We will ask you to complete a volunteer registration form to find out more about you. An informal meet and greet session will then be arranged. This gives us an opportunity to tell you more about our work and role, and to learn about your interests and skills.

We have eight specially adapted bedrooms at both Little Bridge House in Devon, and Charlton Farm in Bristol. At Little Harbour in Cornwall there are six, which are used for respite breaks.
At each hopsice we keep one of these bedrooms free for emergency or end of life care.
CHSW will have photographers taking photos on the day and filming the rainbow craziness. If you want to get shots right in the midst of the action we recommend covering cameras/phones with plastic wrap or bringing a disposable camera.

No. You can choose to walk, jog or run! You can also choose whichever distance you decide is best for your family. Historically this event has been 2k.
There are no long term harmful effects from the foam either during or after the event. If you get some in your eyes, it may sting slightly, consider wearing sunglasses or goggles. The mixture that we use is drier than most foam; therefore you won’t be soaked and won’t be slipping around in the foam stations.
The dye in the foam gives vibrant colours however it is a food dye and is water soluble as well as environmentally friendly and completely safe.
The coloured powder paint is 100% safe and non- toxic. It is biodegradable and will not affect the environment. The paint should not cause harm to participants however we recommend that you don't enter if you have a respiratory, skin or medical condition that could be affected. If you're unsure, please consult your doctor before taking part.
Your accommodation for Thursday night is not included in the registration fee.

The British weather is notoriously unpredictable, so we will be keeping an eye on the forecast. If the weather is deemed unsafe, we will postpone the event and alternative date will be arranged and you will be notified by text and email. If you cannot make the alternative date, a refund will be offered, or you can offer your event fee as a donation.
If achievable, the format of the evening may change to allow it still to go ahead in some form.

The majority of UK visas allow people to volunteer, although there may be restrictions to the number of hours you can volunteer. If you are unsure if your visa allows you to volunteer we recommend you contact the UK Border Agency. We may request verification of this. Taxation rules change frequently. Your solicitor can provide Will tax-planning advice or arrange for the services of an accountant or tax adviser. A Will can allow you to take tax into account and maximise how much you leave to others.
