It is important the Raise a simle Lottery and CHSW Raffle are a fun way to support Children's Hospice South West, but that they never have a detrimental effect. CHSW is committed to ensuring the Lottery and Raffle are operated in a secure, fair and socially responsible way. For more information please read our Social responsibility in gambling Guide.

A residuary legacy is the gift of the remainder of your estate (or a percentage of the remainder) after all other gifts to friends and family have been distributed and all outgoings have been dealt with.

A residuary legacy is especially valuable to CHSW because the growing value of your assets protects it against inflation.

A pecuniary legacy is a fixed sum of money that tends to decrease in value over time because of inflation. For example, a legacy of £1,000 written into a Will in 1980 would now be worth less than £380. However, it is possible to index-link a pecuniary legacy, to ensure that the legacy maintains its intended value.

No! Anyone can take part, because you are completing the event in your own time, at your own pace, on your own terms.

A tandem skydive is an easy and enjoyable way to experience the thrills of skydiving.  Once aboard the aircraft, you will be securely harnessed to your Instructor as you ride up to your chosen altitude.  The aircraft takes approximately 10 minutes to climb to 15,000ft, giving you time to take in the views.  Once at altitude, you will get the green light for GO!

During freefall, you will experience speeds of approximately 120mph for up to a minute, falling around 2 miles.  As the canopy opens, you will be aware of the sudden tranquillity as your speed dramatically decreases.  This allows you to talk with your Instructor, take in the expansive scenery during the 5 minute parachute ride, and land safely after helping your Instructor to steer the parachute around the sky before gliding back to the airfield.

At the Clevedon and Cornwall events, you will receive a medal as you cross the finish line.

As your sponsorship is paying towards the charity-funded skydive, you will need to be transparent with your donors. We are unable to claim Gift Aid on the first £400 raised towards your skydive. Therefore, to make things simple we advise the following:

• When setting up your online fundraising page please do not allow Gift Aid to be claimed

• Do not allow donors on your sponsorship form to tick the Gift Aid box

• Add this clear statement to your online giving page and sponsorship form: £200 of the sponsorship raised will be funding the Skydive and the remaining sponsorship will support care at Children’s Hospice South West.

Absolutely! Whatever event you are taking part in we would love you to join Team CHSW. Phone your local hospice or email event@chsw.org.uk and we'll send you a fundraising pack and CHSW running top.

The prize fund for each weekly draw is £1,425. This is made up of 14 guaranteed prizes totalling £1,225 and a £200 Bonus Rollover.

The 14 guaranteed weekly prizes are 1st prize: £1,000, 2nd prize £100 and 3rd prizes 2 x £25, 5 x £10, 5 x £5

The Bonus Rollover starts at £200 and if the prize is not won it rolls over by £200 each week until it reaches £10,000 when it is guaranteed that week.

Our volunteering opportunities don't require a formal interview. We will ask you to complete a volunteer registration form to find out more about you. An informal meet and greet session will then be arranged. This gives us an opportunity to tell you more about our work and role, and to learn about your interests and skills.

If you're taking part with colleagues from your workplace, please sign up using the online registration form and include your company name within the group. You will need to sign up each member of your work colleagues individually for health and safety reasons if taking part in one of our physical events.

No. Only fill out the own place running form if you have already purchased a place from the event organisers.

Should you need to change your start time please email Kiley and we will see what we can do!

Please note, we will only open the next start time wave depending on demand, so should you wish to join a later start time please check with us that there is a race at that time before turning up.

We have eight specially adapted bedrooms at both Little Bridge House in Devon, and Charlton Farm in Bristol. At Little Harbour in Cornwall there are six, which are used for respite breaks.

At each hopsice we keep one of these bedrooms free for emergency or end of life care.

Thank you so much for raising money for Children’s Hospice South West, we really appreciate your support! Please send us a cheque made payable to CHSW to: Children’s Hospice South West, Little Bridge House, Redlands Road, Fremington, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 2PZ.

It would be great if you could also let us know how you raised the money (and be sure to include your name and address so that we can send you a thank you letter!).

CHSW will have photographers taking photos on the day and filming the rainbow craziness. If you want to get shots right in the midst of the action we recommend covering cameras/phones with plastic wrap or bringing a disposable camera.

You need to join the Santas on the Run Facebook Group

If you want to warm up, please watch one of our pre-recorded festive warm ups – there will be links in the Facebook Group over the weekend and you'll be able to find them on our website.

When you get back from your run there will also be a special story being read by our resident elf that you and your children can watch by clicking on the link on the event page.

Go back to Santas on the Run

You can set up a team fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving following the steps on their website. We recommend that you set up an individual page which links to this team page so we can clearly identify any funds that have been raised on your behalf.

Entry fees are non-refundable or transferable. Should CHSW have cause to cancel the event, participants will be notified and a refund of registration fee offered – or you'll be offered a place in an alternative CHSW event.

We do have a plan to keep the fun going in the event of rain but should the event need to be re-scheduled due to heavy wind/rain your registration fee will be transferred to the new date. You can request a refund of your registration fee if the new date is not convenient for you.

You will need a good level of fitness in time for the event, each day you will cycle between 60 to 90 miles incorporating several hills. As long as you start training early enough, even new cyclists can take part. Our training plan offers you some ideas to be event ready. Santas on the Run is a fun 2k run, walk, or jog at either the Eden Project in Cornwall and Charlton Farm in North Somerset or alternatively you can choose to create your own route and take part virtually in our Facebook Challenge. This year we will not be providing Santa suits but we are letting you decide if you want to twinkle in tinsel, rock it like Rudolph or sleigh it like Santa - dress up in your festive gear and complete a challenge of your choice all whilst raising seasonal smiles for children and families that are supported by our three hospices.

If you are a 40% or 45% taxpayer, Payroll Giving is the only way we can automatically receive all your tax on a donation. You will receive tax relief at the highest rate of tax you pay; so each pound you give, will only cost you 60p.

If you have not done any exercise for some time we recommend you visit your doctor before starting your training. Our tour operators provide training guidelines when you sign up.

We offer a range of fun and innovative volunteering opportunities to all of our corporate partners.

If you would like to find out more about corporate volunteering at work we'd love to hear from you.  Drop us an email and we'll be in touch shortly.

We have limited capacity on single supplement rooms and this option is only available to the first 15 riders who pay the single supplement of £50. If part of a Team we will prioritise you share with another member within your group or alternatively you will share with another participant. Woman and men who are unknown to each other will not be placed in the same room.

The majority of UK visas allow people to volunteer, although there may be restrictions to the number of hours you can volunteer. If you are unsure if your visa allows you to volunteer we recommend you contact the UK Border Agency. We may request verification of this.  Please note that Tourist/ Visitor visas and Student Visitor visas (usually students visiting for six months or less) do not allow people to volunteer.

If you are taking part with your workplace, please ask everyone to register online and include your company name within the group.

This event is aimed at runners of all speeds and levels, so we don’t want to encourage this to be a walking event. Taxation rules change frequently.  Your solicitor can provide Will tax-planning advice or arrange for the services of an accountant or tax adviser. A Will can allow you to take tax into account and maximise how much you leave to others. For example there is currently no inheritance tax payable on a gift left to charity in your will and if you leave 10% of your estate to charity, your IHT liability reduces from 40% to 36%.

Participants who register are not obliged to raise sponsorship. However, if you raise over £30 you will receive a medal. Alternatively, you can make a suggested minimum donation of £30 when you register online.

Skydive Buzz will advise you of your arrival time when you book your jump.

Setting up a dedication a part of this event is optional. You are welcome to take part and remember your loved one by personalising your memory box and candle bag. However, if you decide you would still like your loved ones name/s to be a part of the  memory ceremonies, please:

  • Email Kate for Moonlight Memoiry Walk Devon
  • Email Hollie for Moonlight Memoiry Walk Clevedon
  • Email Kiley for Moonlight Memoiry Walk Cornwall

Why not encourage them to sign up and take part!

No. We gratefully receive any sponsorship our own place runners collect. No matter how small you think this amount may be, it will go a long way to help support our work.

Children over the age of 5 will love this event. They are allowed to come as long as they are participating with an adult and have the option However you must hold their hand or with younger ones carry them as you go through the foam at each Bubble Station.

Each of our hospices has a special room called ‘Starborn’ in which, after a child has died, they can be laid for up to seven days. Starborn is kept at a regulated temperature where the appropriate measures are taken to prepare the body for the funeral. This allows families to be in an environment where they can say goodbye to their child properly, surrounded by loved ones, with support from members of the care team who have looked after their much loved child during their stays.

The paint is 100% natural and water-soluble and will not cause any damage to the environment. However, we still put in a clean-up team to remove the paint on the ground after the event.

Just add your photos or videos to the Facebook Group over the weekend - it's that simple. We'll announce the winners in the week following the event and let you know your prizes!

Once a Will has been made, it is important to keep it up to date and account for any changes in your circumstances. For example, you may now have had a child or grandchild, you may have moved home, or your financial situation may have changed. It is also advisable to reconsider the contents of your Will regularly to make sure that it still reflects your wishes.

Due to the amount of paint used at the paint stations only children aged over 5 years can take part in this event. All children aged 16 and under must have a participating adult also register to run with them. If you have younger children, they must remain in the event village with another adult or guardian.

After your safety briefing with an experienced instructor who will teach you everything you need to know, you will be ready to take to the skies.  On your pre-boarding call, your instructor will prepare you for your skydive - fitting your jumpsuit, head gear, goggles (suitable for contact lenses/glasses), gloves and harness.

A dedication is where you can add the name and a photo of loved ones you are remembering. You can also leave a special message for them. This is free to do and we welcome you to set up more than one dedication in memory of more than one person.

You'll need to complete an application form from the event page. Some events are by application process, we aim to let you know the result of your application as soon as possible. Some events are confirmed instantly as long as you are committed to raising the minimum fundraising pledge and you pay a registration fee.

Raise a smile Lottery tickets can be purchased through the CHSW website by regular play Direct Debit or by debit card payment only. One-off play tickets are available from CHSW Charity Shops. One-off play tickets purchased after Thursday 5pm will be entered in the following week's draw.

Yes. Many of our volunteers work full time. We aim to provide flexible roles which can be carried out around your other commitments, be they work, family or leisure.

Your registration fee only covers the cost of the event and your sponsorship is supporting our vital care for the children and families that attend our hospices. Sponsorship targets are £25 per person and £60 per family

Alternatively, you can make a donation of the suggested sponsorship of £25. Please make your donation via our online donation page marking it as your Santas on the Run donation.

If you are concerned that this might happen, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer help and guidance. Give your local community fundraiser a call and we'll try and help you avoid this. Our fundraising ideas page and your fundraising pack will give you lots of great ideas on how to reach your target.

We want everyone to have the maximum bubbly fun possible so here are a few things to take into account to make sure your children have a great time:

  • The PH of our foam is very mild, however too much of a good thing can be a little irritating, especially to little eyeballs. It is well worth bringing a pair of swimming goggles or buying a pair of our cool colourful sunglasses at the merchandise stall on site.
  • Bring a towel, wet wipes or face cloth to wipe down your child’s face after running through each bubble and paint station. Also it's a good idea to dry their hands, before those soapy suds make it to their eyes.
  • We also recommend children use bandanas or similar wrapped around their mouths to make sure they don’t eat too many bubbles and end up with bubble trouble in their tummies!
  • If it’s looking like a sunny day please ensure you bring sunscreen, and sun hats as there will not be much shelter in the event village.
  • The bubbles can become very high so we recommend that small children are lifted through the bubbles so they do not get lost amongst the foam and foam is not inhaled.

We provide emergency care for many families, and this can be for a number of reasons. It may be that the child is very poorly and the family would like the support that the hospice provides, both physically and emotionally.

An emergency may not necessarily be with the sick child. A parent maybe ill, recovering from an operation, or attending a family funeral for example, and may need additional assistance with their child during this time.

You can make a donation online, either as a single donation or a regular direct debit.

If you don’t wish to give online, you can give a credit/debit card donation over the telephone by 01271 325 270 (Monday-Thursday 9.00am-5.00pm and Friday 9.00am-4.30pm) or please send us a cheque, made payable to Children's Hospice South West, Little Bridge House, Redlands Road, Fremington, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 2PZ.

All participants must be aged 18 or over, unless they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (a minimum age of 14 then applies). A teacher or youth leader acting in loco parentis is not adequate. The parent or legal guardian must complete a Parental Consent Form prior to the event and will need to remain within sight and earshot of the minor – this will normally mean that they need to be with the minor whilst they prepare and accompany their child as is reasonably practicable during their participation.

We recommend an upper age limit of 70 years for participation, and for any individuals to consult their Doctor if they have an concerns about their health or ability.

There are lots of ways to pay in your sponsorship.

Please bring with you your coin collection and gingerbread coin collection houses on the day to hand in at registration. Please make sure you write your names on these so that we know who the money has come from, and we can allocate it to your fundraising total.

We recommend you don't send in cash through the post.  Please remove your coins from your coin collection and then donate for them on our online donation page along with any other sponsorship you've collected.

You can send your sponsor forms and coin collection card along with a cheque to one of our three hospices:

  • CHSW, Little Harbour, Porthpean Road, Porthpean, St Austell, Cornwall, Pl26 6AZ
  • CHSW, Little Bridge House, Redlands Road, Fremington, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 2PZ
  • CHSW, Charlton Farm, Charlton Drive, Wraxall, North Somerset, BS48 1PE

You can also add any offline sponsorship to your online Just Giving page that you may have set up. You can bank the money you have collected and then make a payment on your own donation page. All money raised on an online giving page automatically is sent through to us - you don’t have to do a thing!

Setting up a Facebook Fundraiser for the Facebook Challenge is the best way to raise sponsorship for your challenge  - all money raised on your Fundraiser will be transferred directly to us.

You can set up a team fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving following the steps on their website. We recommend that you set up an individual page which links to this team page so we can clearly identify any funds that have been raised on your behalf.

Send us your questions to Kiley and we'll be back to you with an answer as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, your place is non-transferable. If you cannot now take part please let us know.
