Rainbow Run Cornwall raises over £100,000 for Children’s Hospice South West

1,500 people took part in Cornwall’s brightest fun run on Saturday as RAF St Mawgan once again hosted the Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Rainbow Run, sponsored by Kernow Coatings.

The event returned to Newquay for its 11th year, and has already seen an incredible £100,000 raised, which will help provide care to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions supported by CHSW’s Little Harbour hospice in St Austell.

After a morning of entertainment in the event village participants of all ages ran, jogged and walked the 5km route, through 8 coloured paint stations

Beloved duo Judi Spiers and Gus Honeybun join local children’s hospice to spread joy across the south west

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted to announce a special partnership with one of the region’s most beloved duos — Judi Spiers and the legendary Gus Honeybun.

Judi and Gus, who have been cherished figures in homes across the South West for decades, are joining forces with CHSW to bring moments of joy, comfort and connection to babies children and families supported by the charity’s 3 hospices.

This unique collaboration will see Judi and Gus working closely with CHSW on a number of exciting initiatives throughout the year — creating smiles, sharing stories and spreading the warmth

Hole in one for Children’s Hospice South West

Mainstone Golf Society in Plymouth held a fundraising event in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The group held a golf day at Boringdon Park Golf Club which rasied £3,650 for the charity.

Over 100 individuals took part, all completing 18 holes of the highly regarded course at Boringdon with lots of healthy competition between those taking part.

The society is winding down its activity, which is proving beneficial for the charity as they have generously donated all remaining funds to CHSW.

Memorial Service for children’s hospice Co-Founder

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Eddie Farwell, Co-Founder and retiring CEO of Children’s Hospice South West, was held at Exeter Cathedral on Tuesday 17 June.

Eddie died on 27 March at the age of 73, following a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease. The hundreds in attendance at the service was testament to the impact Eddie had on so many, as well as the legacy he leaves behind. Among those attending were former colleagues, families who had been supported by Children’s Hospice South West, as well as those from the wider South West community and representatives from across the UK

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life and work of Eddie Farwell, Co-Founder and retiring CEO of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), took place at Exeter Cathedral on Tuesday 17 June 2025.

Eddie died on 27 March following a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease and a private funeral was held shortly after his death. CHSW has organised a Memorial Service for Eddie, enabling the wider community to celebrate Eddie’s life, share their memories and find comfort together.

Enjoy entry to a Japanese Garden in support of local children’s hospice

A Cornish garden is opening on Saturday 14 June in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The Japanese Garden in St Mawgan Village near Newquay will be open for visitors to enjoy from 10am-6pm with last entries at 5pm, for just £6 entry for adults and £3 for children.

Covering an acre, visitors can experience an oasis of tranquillity in a Japanese-style Cornish garden. The garden boasts spectacular Japanese maples and azaleas, a symbolic teahouse, a koi pond and much more. Visitors can also enjoy free admission to the gift shop and bonsai and plant areas.

Bristol to London Canoe Challenge in Memory of Baby Max to Support Local Children’s Hospice

This May, Andrew Mcmahon from Brislington in Bristol will undertake an extraordinary 13 day canoe journey from Bristol to London in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). So far, Andrew has raised over £2,500 for the local children’s hospice.

Newquay Rowing Club is looking for teams to take part in its sponsored gig row in Newquay harbour on Sunday 22 June supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Colour Run and Epic Walking Challenge Raise Thousands for Children’s Hospice South West Fry’s

Junior Football Club has been showing outstanding community spirit and support for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) through a vibrant Colour Run event and an ambitious walking challenge in June.

Over 250 children took part in the Frys Junior Football Club Colour Run on Sunday 26 April, raising an incredible £5,000 so far through crowdfunding on JustGiving, with further sponsorship still to be collected in aid of CHSW and the club. The event, generously supported by numerous local businesses, created an electric atmosphere with a real sense of community pride.

Pure Professionals Gear Up for 58km Jurassic Coast Ultra for Children's Hospice South West

A strong team of six from Pure Professionals, an accountancy firm based in Clifton, Bristol, will be tackling the 58km Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge on 17 May to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The Ultra Challenge will see the team walk, jog, or run along the stunning but demanding Jurassic Coast. Stretching from Corfe Castle to Bridport, the route features challenging climbs, rugged coastline, and spectacular scenery — making it a true test of endurance.
