Judi Spiers and Gus Honeybun bring back Magic Birthdays in support of Children’s Hospice South West
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is thrilled to announce that iconic South West duo, Judi Spiers and the legendary Gus Honeybun, are joining forces with the charity to make birthdays magical once again.
Gus Honeybun, who appeared on our screens for more than 30 years as the much loved Westcountry TV mascot, is officially back and he’s hopping into action to help make the most of short and precious lives across the South West.
Supporters can celebrate their birthday while supporting CHSW by creating a birthday fundraiser. Anyone who raises £50 or more will receive a special Magic Birthday video from Judi and Gus. As well as personalised birthday messages from the famous bunny himself, supporters can shop a range of limited-edition official Gus gifts and merchandise, with every purchase helping CHSW provide vital care and support to families across the South West.
Judi Spiers, broadcaster and lifelong friend of Gus Honeybun, said:
Gus has meant so much to so many children and adults for such a long time. He was created to bring joy to children and that’s exactly what we are going to do with Children’s Hospice South West. We’re going to make special visits, read some special stories and so much more . It’s a wonderful partnership and we’re all really excited about it
Judi Spiers will be supporting CHSW as part of Magic Birthdays by acting as a spokesperson for the charity, helping to raise awareness of its vital work across the region. Most recently, Judi and Gus recorded a reading of The Invisible String, shared with the kind permission of award winning author, Patrice Karst, which families supported by the charity will be able to watch.
Emma Perry, Head of Fundraising at CHSW’s Little Bridge House in North Devon, added:
“We’re so excited to be working with Judi to bring back Magic Birthdays with Gus Honeybun. There’s not long to go now until we launch, when supporters will be able to buy official Gus Honeybun merchandise and send a personalised video message from Gus to loved ones. This partnership is incredibly special, and we can’t wait to see how it develops in the coming months.”
Funds raised through the partnership with Judi and Gus will help support CHSW’s 3 hospices: Little Harbour in St Austell, Little Bridge House in Barnstaple and Charlton Farm in North Somerset, providing vital care to children with life limiting conditions and their families.
CHSW hopes supporters will join in celebrating the return of a much‑loved childhood favourite, helping to bring birthday magic back to the South West for such a meaningful cause.
