23 August 2021 chsw Fundraising

A couple from Mary Tavy near Tavistock are delighted that opening their garden over three days this summer has raised £1400 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Husband and wife Roger and Melanie Baldry opened their three acre garden; Warren Lodge in Mary Tavy, on 6 June, 4 July and 1 August.

Visitors booked a slot to visit the garden and could explore the garden’s small orchard, vegetable plot and cutting garden. Visitors were treated to cream teas and cakes, served by Tavistock Friends Group of CHSW, while admiring the views of Dartmoor and listening to harpist Tim Hampson.

The garden has undergone quite the transformation over the last 21 years, from an overgrown two acre farmers field to a beautifully landscaped three acre garden with a range of plants, shrubs and trees.

Zoe Partridge, Area Fundraiser for CHSW said; “We would like to thank Roger and Melanie for opening their garden not just for one day but for three days this summer, and of course to everyone who visited and made donations. It is fantastic to be see these type of fundraising events returning and the opportunity to raise vital funds and awareness of Children’s Hospice South West.”

Throughout this year CHSW is celebrating 30 years since the founding of the charity. CHSW now runs three children’s hospices in the south west including Little Harbour in St Austell which is currently supporting more than 145 local children and their families.
