Cream Tea Hampers supporting children's hospice

The Cornish Hamper Store, proud retailers of hampers sent nationwide full to the brim of Cornish goodies, are going to be supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) this autumn.

The Cornish Hamper Store, based in Redruth, will be donating 50p to CHSW which runs Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell from the sale of each cream tea hamper that is ordered between 26 September and 10 October.

Truro Golfers donate to two children’s charities

Organisers of an event held at Truro Golf Club in July have recently been able to donate to two charities supporting children and young people.

Truro Golf Club’s Seniors Open was held on 22 July and saw 168 players from across the county, and further afield, take part. Following the event £450 was donated to both Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and Young Lives vs Cancer, both charities that support children, young people and their families as they face challenging medical diagnoses.

Freathy scarecrows prove they are more than just good looks

Scarecrows created by the Freathy community on the Rame Peninsula in Cornwall have proven they are more than just good looks by managing to raise £178 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

More than 20 local residents made their donation to CHSW and then got very creative with their entries into the Freathy Scarecrow competition which saw everything from scarecrow mermaids, surfers and lifeguards proudly displayed.

It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Her Majesty, The Queen. Our thoughts are very much with The Royal Family at this very sad time, and we send our heartfelt condolences to them and to everyone affected by this news.

Cornishman, Rotarian and Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) supporter Stephen Lay has recently completed his two year, 1,000 mile mission of walking around the entirety of Cornwall unsupported, just two years after having a heart attack and recovering from bowel cancer.

Many have walked the 295 mile coastal footpath around the county, but in addition Stephen has also tackled the 180 miles around the tidal estuaries as well as the 64 mile non-tidal length of the River Tamar and on to the Devon Cornwall border on the north coast. Majestic Minis out in force for children’s hospice

Hundreds of Minis were out in force in North Devon at the weekend, raising thousands of pounds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Around 250 Minis took part in the 26th annual Legendary Grand Tour over the August Bank Holiday weekend, culminating in a noisy and colourful rally from Bideford’s Victoria Park on Monday.

Drivers and passengers, many of them and their Minis in fancy dress, headed out in convoy along the quay towards CHSW’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Fremington, and on to Barnstaple, Bratton Fleming, Lynton, Combe Martin and Ilfracombe.

Ben’s legacy lives on for Little Harbour

A fundraising event held recently in memory of Ben Pinkham raised £2680 for Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) which runs Little Harbour children's hospice in St Austell.

Ben, a keen footballer for Saltash United, died tragically in 2003 when he was just 21, the fundraiser was organised to mark what would have been Ben’s 40th birthday year.

Sunflower trail blooming for Little Harbour

St Austell Sunflower Trail has opened at Higher Tregorrick Farm in St Austell and is helping to raise vital funds for the nearby children’s hospice; Little Harbour.

The trail opened on Tuesday 9 August and will be open for at least two weeks while the sunflowers are in full bloom. Entry gives you access to fields of sunflowers and unique views across St Austell as well as the opportunity to purchase cut sunflowers to take home with you.

Mini run maestro Terry honoured for 25 years of fabulous fundraising

The driving force behind North Devon's annual Mini run has been honoured for more than a quarter-of-a-century of fundraising for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Terry Baker organised the first Legendary Grand Tour for the charity in 1996 after meeting a young Mini fan at the Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Fremington.

The event has since become an annual favourite over the August Bank Holiday weekend, attracting Mini enthusiasts from all over the world and raising hundreds of thousands of pounds to help provide vital care for children and young people with life-limiting

Golfers in Cornwall complete 101 holes in a day for charity

Four local golfers have raised £1,834.74 for Children’s Hospice South West when they broke the record for most holes of golf played in one day, by a fourball in daylight hours.

The awesome foursome played at Falmouth Golf Club in June and completed 101 holes of golf, with no buggies as assistance. They started this epic challenge at 05:30 and finished at 21:40, exhausted, but motivated by the money they had raised.
