Truro Charity Shop appeals for volunteers and donations

06 January 2026 CHSW

Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) charity shop in Truro is calling on the local community to help stock its shelves by donating their good-quality, pre-loved items.

This is the opportunity to tick off some resolutions by having a new year clear-out and help a local charity.

The shop is also looking for volunteers who can spare a few hours each week to lend a helping hand at its shop in Victoria Square.

The shop is a firm favourite in the city for hunting out a bargain. It is playing a vital role in raising funds to provide care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families across the South West.

From clothing and accessories to books, toys and homeware, every donated item helps the charity to continue providing essential support to families at its hospices including Little Harbour in St Austell. CHSW provides hospice days and hospice stays, emergency care as well as end-of-life care and bereavement support, helping families make the most of every moment together.

Shop Manager, Hendrina Neeld, said:

We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of our supporters, but right now our stock levels are low. If you’re having a winter clear-out or simply want to support a good cause, please consider donating your pre-loved items to us. Every item sold helps fund the vital care we provide to families who need us most.

Hendrina also said there were a number of benefits to volunteering in the shop, and a range of roles to suit all ages and experience.

“Volunteering in our charity shops is one of the most popular ways to support CHSW and there’s a role to suit everyone. We’re really in need of people to steam garments and work on the till at weekends!” said Hendrina.

Jerome Brown, CHSW’s Area Retail Manager said:

You’ll be part of a happy, friendly, team and know that you’re making a difference. Whether you’re a student, retired, or looking to fill a few hours during the week, we’d love to hear from you.

Donations can be dropped off during opening hours at the shop on 13 Victoria Square and volunteers are on hand to assist. The shop is open from 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. Pop in to chat about volunteering or email truro.shop@chsw.org.uk.
