Your local charity shop can be a treasure troves of hidden gems.  Charity shops are a great place to find good quality, pre-loved items, from clothes and accessories to homeware, furniture and books. Great value for money for you and helping short and precious lives in our local towns.
Whether you shop with us, give your time to volunteer or donate pre-loved items to us - you'll be making a difference.

Find us on the corner of  Victoria Square, next to Argos and  Burger King.

Yes please donate your quality pre-loved items to us.

You can stop to unload at the side of the shop during opening hours, so that we can say thank you. There's a green door where we can come out and collect bags from you.

We need donations of:

  • Ladies Clothing
  • Shoes, Jewellery & Accessories
  • Children's Toys, Games & Books
  • Books & Media
  • Mens Clothing
  • Homewares
  • Bric a brac
  • Children's Clothing

Leaving donations outside shop opening hours

Although we really welcome your donations we ask that you please don't leave them outside the shop when we're closed.

Not only do we like to be able to thank you personally for bringing them in, but when bags are left outside overnight it can be cause problems for the shop.

Bag your RAG

Whilst we ask that most items donated to shops are things that would sell, you can still help us raise money on used/unfashionable textiles. If you have clothing or textiles that you think wouldn't necessarily sell in a shop please still donate them to us as they do have value.

We just ask that you simply put all RAG textiles together in a bag and label it as 'RAG'.

This helps us to save precious time not having to sort through each bag, as we'll already know that everything in that bag can be recycled for RAG.

We can then get extra money for the charity based on weight of RAG - so it doesn't matter what the condition the textiles are in, it all helps.

Are you interested in volunteering at this shop?

We couldn’t survive without the help of our wonderful volunteers.  Volunteering is a fantastic way to spend your time: not only is it helpful and a way of giving something to your local community but it is also very rewarding. It's a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and feel like you are doing some good.  So if you would like to know more about volunteering in one of our charity shops we'd love to hear from you.

If you are a UK taxpayer, please sign up to the Gift Aid scheme when you donate to our shops. The Gift Aid scheme allows Children's Hospice South West to claim an additional 25% of the sale price of your donated goods from HMRC at no extra cost to you – increasing the value of your gift to us.

About Retail Gift Aid

Our shops play a huge role in raising the money we need to fund research. By allowing us to claim Gift Aid on the proceeds raised from the sale of your donated items you will be helping us generate additional income at no extra cost to you. One bag of donated items can raise as much as £25, so with Gift Aid, this bag would be worth £31.

To sign up for Retail Gift Aid please visit your local Children's Hospice South West shop. For any Gift Aid enquiries please contact us on 01271 325 270.
